Rest In Peace: Sweet Cady

CadyAR2

Cady has gone to play at the Rainbow Bridge. She is healthy and happy there, and is so thankful for the love from and mercy shown by her dear foster mom. We lost her to what the vet believes was distemper. Rescue is filled with an amazing and bittersweet balance; the soaring and indescribable happiness of joining together a family and their new dog is countered by the stark loss and cruel defeat when we can’t heal one. This is that hard part, that sad truth. We can only hope times like this will make our joyful adoptions that much more victorious.

Cady was from Texas and was only about 6 or 7 months old. She was a beautiful example of a Rat Terrier! She was affectionate and playful, and loved to be a lap dog. Cady wanted very badly to please her people, and was a happy, friendly dog who would have done well in just about any home situation. If you would, take a moment, say a few words and share our wish of peace for this angel. Please see more photos of this beautiful girl.

    I know, Deb! It’s so very sad. Her foster mom just saved a new dog today, and she’s at the home of the Vet Tech, and so we can surely give the new pup your presents in honor of Cady. I’ll email you a picture.

    I am so saddened by this news. Such a beautiful little girl. I just want to go home and give my Fancy a big hug!

    “There is sorrow enough in the natural way

    From men and women to fill our day;

    But when we are certain of sorrow in store

    Why do we always arrange for more?

    Brothers and sisters I bid you beware

    Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.”

    As an owner of a Rat Terrier I can’t believe that research hasn’t found a cure for distemper yet. I’m so sorry for the loss of this beautiful puppy. I’m a dog lover and just reading about her made me cry and I don’t even know the dog or the foster mom. My dad is a foster parent for two different rescue organizations HALO and Freedom rescue. I saw the website on a SUV in the store parking lot so I when I got home I checked it out. It takes a very special person to be a foster parent.

    As Cady’s fostermom, thank you all for your sympathy and for understanding our pain. It was surely a very painful loss, not only to me personally, but to everyone who cares about dogs. Thanks again.

    Awww….
    The loss of a Rat Terrier as always a sad thing. As the proud owner of 2 Rat Terriers (one lives with me the other with my ex-husband) I understand how wonderful it is to have these sweet lovable dogs as part of the family.
    My heart goes out to all of you who have loved and lost this dog.
