ADOPTED!! Ruger

RugerAR2

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Miller family!

The locals call it the Grand Prairie of Arkansas, and that’s where Ruger is from. It’s the flat farmland before you get to the Mississippi River, and it flooded in December. Ruger was kept outdoors in the Carlisle shelter when it flooded and the nighttime temps were below freezing. Local vets jumped into action and got all the dogs safe and warm, and contacted us about Ruger. Ruger was terribly underweight, but otherwise healthy. He now weighs about 16 pounds. He is estimated to be 18 months old and is doing wonderfully with house training. He walks great on a leash, and loves to ride in the car. Ruger loves to run, just for the sheer joy of running. He likes to play with the young dogs in his foster home and do super-sonic rat runs in the backyard. This active boy really needs a fenced backyard to keep him safe. He is protective of his people, and is afraid of thunderstorms, but not overly so. He does bark when someone strange comes to the door, but after he meets them he seems to like everyone. Ruger is just grateful to be warm and have his tummy full! Do you need a “pistol” of a dog like Ruger in your life? Please see more photos of this GREAT dog!

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Arnold family!

Echo is a sweet, easy-going Rat Terrier mix. He is about 7 years old, weighs about 14 lbs, and is fully housebroken and crate-trained.  Little Echo came to ResQ with his brother Max when their family had to move and were unable to take their dogs with them.  Echo will impress you with his knowledge of basic commands like, “sit”, “come”, “down”, and even knows how to shake hands.  He gets along with other dogs, and although we aren’t sure how he will do with cats, we can have him  “Cat-scanned” upon request.  Max and Echo are available for adoption together or separately.  Is Echo the dog for you? Taz **RIP**

Taz

We are very sad to announce that Taz had a very serious condition that would have left him to suffer. Taz was humanly put to sleep with his foster mom at his side. We will all miss you Taz.

Taz is a sweet 5 month old Rat Terrier and Chihuahua mix located in Wolcott CT. this little guy only weighs about 6.5 lbs, but thinks he is much bigger!  He will play and wrestle with the best of them. Taz loves to play tug-o-war with other dogs and people too, but then he turns into a cuddly lap dog.  He is still young and teething, and will mouth you in play, so I probably kids over 7 would be best.  He did spend some time with a child age 7, and he loved her.  Taz is easily trained with treats and will run right to his crate when he sees his dinner bowl. Taz  is learning how to walk like a big boy on the leash, and he is housebroken and crate trained. This little munchkin gets along well with other dogs but would probably want to chase a cat if then ran. Taz really enjoys snuggling up in bed with you for the night and giving you kisses when you wake up. How can you resist that adorable face! For more photos please go to image event site:

ADOPTED!! Buster

Posted Sep 21, 2010 at 10:40 am in Latest News

BusterMeet Buster!  Buster is one and a half years old and weighs 15 pounds. He is being fostered in South Windsor CT. This cutie-pie is a very happy, energetic guy who would love a family with children of his very own to play with.  Because of his owner’s health issues, ResQ was asked to help find him a wonderful, forever home.  He is a very cute boy, as you can see!  He is full of personality, and his favorite game is to play with toys and return balls thrown for him.  He could play fetch all day!  He is housebroken and sleeps in a crate at night, like a good boy.  He loves to be with his family, but may need some time to adjust to any other dogs in the household as he has not made friends with his foster sisters yet.  He loves to sit with you when you relax on your couch.  He does very well walking on a leash, but would love a fenced-in yard so he can do his super sonic rattie runs.  Do you have room in your heart and home for this little boy?  He has his bags packed, and wants to be adopted!  He promises to be a good boy if you will choose him! http://imageevent.com/coram/buster

ADOPTED!! Jackie

Jackie

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the O’Brien family!

Jackie is a sweet-tempered ball of fire!  She has a ton of energy and LOVES to play – with anyone (any dogs, cats, any humans, all toys, even an ice cube!).  Jackie is tall (16 in floor to shoulder) and thin (about 22 lbs) but she is a terrific eater.  She can jump VERY high and is extremely light on her paws.  She has a long tail, erect ears and a reddish-tan mask over her ears and face.  Her hair is smooth and soft.  She’s mostly white with a few tan and black spots here and there.  Jackie is a true lover, showering everyone she meets with kisses, and tries to sneak in a snuggle whenever she gets close to you.  She is great with kids but might tip over a toddler because she jumps when she gets excited about playing with someone.  She walks on a leash nicely, is doing great with housetraining, rides in the car quietly and gently takes treats from your hands.  When she sees you go near the treat bag she automatically stands up on her back legs and crosses her paws to look as cute and hungry as she possibly can.  Hard to resist!  Jackie doesn’t seem to have an aggressive bone in her body.  She enjoys learning new tricks and is curious about just about everything!  A friend took her to an agility course and she showed great interest in the activities – this would be a great way to channel her energy – she’d be a natural!   For more photos of this amazing dog,

ADOPTED!! Sable

Sable

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Mouchakkaa family!

Hi, there!  My name is Sable. I’m 5 months old, and they tell me I may be a cross between at Jack Russell and a Rat Terrier.  Whatever that is, I’m cute!  I’m white with tan markings and was living in Whisky Slew in Tracy until my current foster mum and foster dad found me.  It has taken me a little while to adjust being with a “family” – I’m not sure what happened to mine, but guess what?  Now I have 4 other doggies to play and pal around with.  I like being around other dogs and I’m also very good around children – my Mum and Dad have an 18 month old little boy, who I love to play with and follow around.   I need a little training, but given my start in life, I’m well behaved, very playful and love being scratched behind my ears.  I would love to go to a family that will love and spoil me unconditionally.  If you would like for me to become part of your family, please fill out an application, and I’ll start packing my bags!  Note:  Little Sable has an undiagnosed leg injury, she may have been thrown from a car.  ResQ has scheduled x-rays and she will be treated before she is released for adoption.  But this little one is worth waiting for!

ADOPTED!! Swai

Swai

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Ford family!

Sweet, Sweet Swai! Swai is a quiet, little teddy-type rat terrier who is looking for a safe, loving home. Swai’s family had to give her up when someone developed allergies so now she’s ready to start over. Swai is white with brown spots, and her face is tricolor with big, understanding brown eyes. She is 11 inches tall, 14 inches long and is just a tad zaftig — tipping the scales at 14 lbs. (but currently working on losing a few with a healthy new diet and exercise). She is about six years old and is housebroken, walks like a lady on a leash, rides patiently in the car, and when she gets playful she trots around the lawn in celebration. Swai has settled into her foster home with ease, uses a low growl to assert herself, but is definitely submissive when challenged. She does not want to fight and she prefers to play gently. Swai can be timid with strangers at first. She definitely needs an understanding family who will be as gentle with her as she is with them. She enjoys getting brushed or petted and thoroughly enjoys soft belly rubs and quiet times at your side while you’re reading, working on the computer or watching TV. Swai bonded quickly with her foster mom and is very loving. If you would like a furry companion that has a lot of love to give, Swai is the gal for you!
