GhillieTN3

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Heltzel family!

Please meet shy, silly Ghillie, a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix! Ghillie is approximately 2 years old and he’s all legs right now – 14″ tall and about 17 pounds. His foster mom is feeding him such oh-so-good kibble that he’s sure to gain a few more needed pounds. Ghillie is crate trained and is quiet all through the night. He is house trained and gets along with 6 other Ratties in his foster home. He LOVES to ride in cars, is easy to walk on a leash and enjoys meeting new people. His favorite place is in your lap – on his back and belly up in the air for all to see. He sleeps on the bed at night and stays until its time to get up. He has been cat-scanned – he showed interest but no aggression. He would do well with children but may be a bit timid in an extremely loud environment. Ghillie is a sweet boy who needs a loving home with an empty lap waiting just for him. Make sure you see more pictures of this cutie pie!

We have withdrawn our app, only because we live in CT and have decided it makes sense to adopt locally. I talked to Ghillie’s foster mom and we fell in love with him, so please take the time to find out about this sweet little guy, we desperately want him to find a fabulous home!

My wife thinks that it’s too much of a chance to adopt a dog from so far away; she thinks it’s best to meet the dog in person. After hearing her reasoning, I have to agree with her. She also insisted that our Rat-T meet the new Rat-T to see how they get along. That’s just not practical from such a long distance (WI). I’m not happy about this because Ghillie just seems like an awesome friend. I’ll keep watching this site for a rescue opportunity closer to home.

I fully understand. Furthermore, I respect your wife’s caution when adopting a dog sight unseen. While there’s nothing wrong with Ghillie, it lets me know that you are serious about adoption and are trying to find the right fit for your home. Best wishes on finding the right “rattie” for you…

Perhaps, try petfinder.com for a rattie closer to home…

I really like the intensity in Ghillies eyes. I had a female rat terrier who had to be put down at 7 years old due to her pain and discomfort level in her hind end. I believe she was far too inbred and felt I was cheated from a full life with my very special Rat. I see such strong life in Ghillie…

    HI there,
    Is Ghillie still available?
I am in Virginia but i could drive to Tennessee or we could meet half way.
I will fill out the app. I live in a big apt and am looking for a little dog to love. I have no kids and no other pets. Thanks for your reply.

    Hi Lynn!

I just sent in my application for Ghillie.

I am hoping that he is still available – we are from Memphis. We have 1 little girl rat t/beagle and she needs a friend.

Hoping to hear from you soon after you receive our application!

I am guessing that this cutie is adopted, or will be very soon. I already have two dogs (Annie, and Holly), and wish I could adopt another, but can not at this time, but I wanted to just say, how cute this little guy is! He seems to have a lot of ideal qualities and love to offer! I appreciate that so many people open their hearts and homes to fostering and adopting rescue and pound dogs! Both of my dogs are mutts, and my other dog who passed away in August 2008 (RIP Easton) was one as well, and they make my life so much brighter!
