ADOPTED!! Tiny Tina

Posted Aug 27, 2011 at 6:54 am in Latest News

Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Myers family!

Everything in Texas isn’t big!  This tiny little girl is named Tina!  She came from a shelter in TX when her time ran out and her family didn’t come to get her.  She is only about 6 pounds, and a year old.  She is crate trained, but much prefers to sleep in a soft dog bed.  In her foster home she sleeps on a pillow on top of her crate!  She is quite the jumper.  Tina is super affectionate and loves all humans, men and women alike.  She greets all visitors with a butt-wiggle and makes friends easily.  Because she is so small, we think she would do best in a home with children older than 6 or 7.  We think she must have been an only dog, but she’s learning to play with the other dogs in her foster home.  However, she is extremely possessive of rawhide chewies, and will cause a huge ruckus if another dog gets too close to her prized possession.  But people can take a chewie away from her, and she doesn’t object at all, she rolls over on her back.  She is only possessive with other dogs.  Once the chewies have been put away, she is a perfect angel with the other dogs.  She is fed in her crate, so the other dogs won’t bother her while she eats.  Tina is housebroken with a doggie door, and will go to the back door to be let outside if the doggie door is not available.  She loves to retrieve toys and small balls that are thrown, and is eager to please her people.  We think that because she is so small, she makes up for it with plenty of “rattitude.”  If you are looking for a spunky little girl who will give you years of companionship, maybe Tiny Tina is the girl for you!  To see photos of Tina in her foster home, click here:

ADOPTED!!! Baxter

Baxter3

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Hanson family!

Meet Baxter!  Baxter is six and a half years old and weighs 15 pounds. His family could no longer keep him when they had to move for their employment, so we were asked to help find him a new home.  He is being fostered in South Windsor CT. Baxter is a very playful boy, who just loves his toys!  Six years old is still a spring chicken for a rat terrier, after all!  He is housebroken and sleeps quietly in a crate at night.  He loves being outside on nice days and delights in playing fetch with a ball, if you will throw it for him.  Baxter happily gets along with his two foster rat terrier sisters, but we were informed by his former owners that he may have some issues with much bigger dogs.  He did live with a cat, but they were not best buddies.  He will sit next to you on the couch, content to hold a stuffed toy in his mouth and just chill out.  He loves going on walks and seems to enjoy riding in cars.  A fenced in yard would be good for Baxter so that he can enjoy his supersonic rat runs for exercise.  His foster family thinks that he would be a great dog for any family.  Do you have room in your heart and home for this little boy?  For more photos of Baxter in his foster home, click here:

ADOPTED!! Brie

Posted Aug 20, 2011 at 6:27 am in Latest News

Adopted!CongRATulations to the Bauer family! Brie is a 6 year-old AHT  (American Hairless Terrier) who lost her home recently. Brie is affectionate, housebroken, and knows several commands; such as “speak,” “sit,” “shake,” and “dance.”  It’s hard to understand how such a well-adjusted, social dog like Brie ended up in a shelter, but she did.  Brie gets along fine with the other dogs in her foster home, and her favorite past time is catching a nap under a blanket in your lap!  She is not familiar with going up and down stairs, but that will come with time. Brie is extremely alert and attentive, and wants badly to please.  She loves squeaky toys!  It’s obvious to her foster mom that Brie misses her family, but she is grieving less every day, and just needs a permanent family of her own.  If you are considering adopting an AHT, you will need to be aware of their skin care requirements.  She will need sun screen during the summer to keep her skin from burning, and will need to wear tee shirts and comfy fleece shirts during the winter months.  Most of all, what Brie needs is someone to love her.  Could that be you?  Just look at that face!

ADOPTED!! Ziggy

Adopted!CongRATulations to the Feldman family!

We’d like to introduce you to Ziggy!  Ziggy is a puppy, and is only about 8 months old.  He is the perfect lap size, at about 12 pounds.  He is a laid back, sweet dog, and not overly active.  He is well-mannered and does not get into mischief like a typical puppy.  He is quiet and calm, and does not bark or chew on things he shouldn’t.  Ziggy is housebroken, and crate trained.  He sleeps in his crate at night without a peep.  This sweet boy just wants to please his people, and is very happy in his Florida foster home.  His favorite thing to do is to be outside running around and enjoying the backyard with his foster family.  He can be off leash and ALWAYS comes when called. Ziggy is very smart!  He likes other dogs and people, and loves to go on long walks.  Since he’s being fostered in Florida, he has learned to enjoy swimming in the pool or ocean.  He is a little shy and sometimes nervous around new people, but he warms up quickly.  He would probably do best in a household with children 10 and over.  Ziggy is being fostered in Tampla, Florida, and all he needs now is a home of his own.  Could that home be yours?

ADOPTED!! Stella

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Feldman family!

Introducing Stella!  Stella is a very sweet, friendly, outgoing, 2 year old female.  She is also a beautiful example of a rat terrier!  She was rescued from a shelter in Florida, and is looking for her forever home.  Stella loves everyone, she is extremely friendly and especially loves visitors!  She will eagerly jump on anyone’s lap for attention. She likes to go for long walks and loves being outside.  Stella seems to love children and likes to swim with them, jumping in the pool, and also enjoying the beach. She gets along with other dogs.  However, she will not do well in a home with cats. She likes to chase squirrels and rabbits and will occupy herself hunting lizards in the backyard.  Stella’s perfect home would offer her a fenced backyard, and an owner who will take her on very long walks or runs. She likes to be around people  and does not like being crated. She is housebroken and knows how to use a doggie door like a pro!  She prefers to sleep in her bed on the floor, or on the couch, especially with her family.  If you have room for a sweetheart like Stella in your life, let us know, so she can pack her bags to come home!

ADOPTED!! Dixie

DixieAdopted!

CongRATulations to the Karrin/Malmut family!

Can you say hello to Miss Dixie?  Dixie is a tiny little girl, about 10 pounds.  We know someone used to love her, because she was spayed, housebroken and kept on heartworm preventive.  Then how in the world was she dumped at a lakeside park and how did she end up at a rural shelter on death row?  We sure can’t explain it, but she’s safe now, in a ResQ foster home.  Dixie was found abandoned at the park, terrified and with an injured foot.  Dixie loves attention, and just melts in your lap when you pick her up.  But she is still a bit timid, and will run and hide if you chase her.  It’s best to just sit down and call her.  She’ll come to you, with her whole body wagging in excitement.  Dixie is estimated to be about 3 or 4 years old.  She is housebroken, and depends on you to let her outside or use a doggie door.  She is quiet and docile, and seems to love everyone.  But people walking upright towards her still frightens her, for now.  We think she would do okay in a home with older children, but fast-moving toddlers would probably scare her.  Whoever adopts her will need to give her a week or so to adjust to new surroundings, because she’s been through a lot in her short life.  Her rear foot was injured while she was a stray, and two of the toes were broken and healed improperly, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit.  She uses her foot just fine!  For photos of Miss Dixie in her foster home, check her album often.  You can find it here:

CongRATulations to the Eddins family!

We’d like you to get to know Bennett!  Bennett is being fostered in Wolcott CT, and is a 2 year-old male weighing about 12 pounds.  He is a type B rattie with the short legs. Bennett has those sweet, soulful eyes that will make you melt. He is quite the love bug and enjoys snuggling on the couch and sleeping in bed with you. Bennett loves for you to wrap your arms right around him and hold him all night. This sweetheart is housebroken and crate trained.  He gets along great with other dogs his size, but has not been around larger dogs yet.  He is relaxed around women, but takes a couple of days to get comfortable with men.  He needs to know that men won’t hurt him. We have not cat-scanned him yet but we can  if a prospective home has a resident feline.  He is very gentle, so we assume he would be good with cats. He even plays with a 3-pound chihuahua, and is so good and gentle with her.  Bennett is still a bit mouthy in play with people so we would suggest kids over 6 . He is leash trained but is afraid of busy traffic, he was hit by a car before coming into rescue, so who can blame him!  He was very lucky to only have some cuts and muscle soreness, and has healed well.  He shows his joy at being alive by doing rat runs around the yard of his foster home. If you are looking for dedicated little man in your life , here he is! He will never stop showing his love.

ADOPTED!! Tinker

Posted Aug 5, 2011 at 6:47 am in Latest News

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Knauer family!

Say hello to Tinker!  Tinker is the sweetest little lady around.  She is an American Hairless Terrier (hairless rat terrier) and is being fostered in Wisconsin. Tinker is about 5 years old and weighs about 12.5 pounds.  She gets along beautifully with all of her foster siblings, and with visiting dogs as well.  She is tidy and housebroken, and very quiet.  She dotes on her foster family and loves to follow them from room to room, wagging her tail all the while.  Her very favorite past time is to sit on your lap, wrapped in a blanket, and snuggle with her foster mom.  Tinker came to ResQ overweight, and she is working on getting her girlish figure back.  Her skin had been neglected as well, but she is doing much better now that she’s being properly cared for. If you would like to consider adopting an American Hairless, please be aware that they need specialized skin care, and will need to wear protective clothing in the winter. Sun screen must also be applied during the hot summer months to protect them from burning.  Tinker is a very special girl who is looking for a permanent home and someone to love.  Could that be you?
