ADOPTED! Scout

Posted Apr 3, 2013 at 10:22 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!    Meet Scout!  Scout is the most adorable little ratty you will ever come across! Scout is a short-legged rat terrier, usually referred to as a “Teddy,” and weighs about 11 pounds.  Our vets think he is about a year old, maybe a tad older.  He loves to play with toys!  He is a sable and white, his coloring is beautiful!  He has the cutest bob tail and his ears stand straight up.  Scout is house trained and knows how to use the doggie door. He is crate trained but his foster mom likes to let him to sleep next to her (when he falls to sleep he is out like a rock until morning) and he is such a snuggle bug.  Scout loves to play with his foster brother and sisters, but he also loves to fall to sleep on a lap if one is available.  We are working on food habits he thinks at feeding time all the bowls are for him, but he is learning that is not the case. He is very loving and has not shown any aggression towards anyone.  He was a big hit on Easter and everyone in the house held and played with him.  His foster mom has not seen any aggression towards any other dogs, and there are plenty of them around so that is not a concern.  Scout is especially drawn to children, and doesn’t mind cats at all.  He rides well in the car and is no problem walking on a leash, does hesitate a little, but he is just adjusting to his surroundings.  Scout does like to chew so he does have to be provided raw hides or safe chew bones, antlers work well and last a long time.  For more photos of this cutie, check his album often:

ADOPTED! Star

Posted Apr 3, 2013 at 10:17 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!    Star is a very petite female rat terrier, weighing only 7.4 pounds.  She is such a love bug!  She seems to like all the people she meets, and has a loving personality.  Star is so small and is easily intimidated by bigger dogs, so it takes her a day or two to get used to other dogs.  But then she will play with them!  Star is 5 years old, but looks like a puppy because she is so small. She gets along fine with the cat in her foster home, and likes to ride in the car.  She does need some leash training, and we are working on that. Star came from a hoarding situation in NC, and despite her poor start in life, she is housebroken and is great in the crate. She is looking for someone to snuggle on the couch with her and have some patience with her, as she is a bit shy at first.  She is quickly learning to trust people again, and she is so smart!  We are not sure how she is with kids yet, but to be safe, we would recommend kids over 8 years old because of her size and shyness with new people.  Star has a lot of love to give the right family, and she deserves a happy home where she is the center of attention and doted upon.  Is that you?

ADOPTED! Willow

ADOPTED!      Willow is a small female rat terrier, weighing only 9.8 pounds, and is a beautiful girl with a loving personality.  She is 4 years old, but looks and acts younger.  She was rescued from a hoarding situation, and is doing very well in her new foster home!  She is learning how to get along with everyone, and loves having all the extra attention!  She is really amazing, considering her past.  Willow does great riding in a car, and is working hard to learn how to walk on a leash.  She is housebroken, and also crate trained.  We will introduce her to some young children to see how she does, but this sweet girl loves everyone she has met and is such a happy girl to have another chance in life!  Willow is a sweet and loving little girl who only wants a forever home and a little extra lap time with her family.  Is Willow the right companion for you?  For more photos of Willow, check her photo album here:
