Taffy – ADOPTED!

Posted May 28, 2013 at 10:37 am in Latest News

ADOPTED!!     We’d like to introduce sweet Taffy!  Taffy is 5 years old, is housebroken, and gets along with everybody, even cats!  Her owner, even after allergy shots, was unable to live with a dog in the house, so she surrendered Taffy to the shelter in North Little Rock, Arkansas.  Taffy weighs about 18 pounds, and her foster mom reports that she can find absolutely no issues or behavioral problems with this sweet girl.  She sure lives up to her name, and is about as sweet as they come.  Taffy is housebroken, gets along great with dogs, cats, and even kids.  She is very docile and not at all hyper active or overly friendly.  She greets everyone with a wagging tail and a sweet disposition.  Taffy was very well cared for, and even underwent allergy testing in her former home.  She is, according to the owner surrender documents, “allergic to dye in foods.”  But her coat is shiny and healthy, and she is eating the kibble in her foster home with no problems at all.  Taffy prefers to sleep at the foot of your bed, or in a dog bed on the floor.  She loves to ride in the car, and is very well behaved on a leash.  She doesn’t pull or tug on a leash, just walks nicely beside you.  There is absolutely nothing bad to say about this beautiful dog.  She seems to like men and women equally, and all she lacks is a permanent home.  If Taffy looks like your next best friend, please fill out an application today.  We have a feeling this great little girl will not be homeless for long!  You can view photos of her in her foster home here:

Annie – ADOPTED!!

ADOPTED!!
Annie is 3 years old and weighs 13 pounds.  She is housebroken and sleeps in a crate at night, but she does like to sneak in bed if she is allowed.  She is shy and fearful at first, but will come up to you and get to know you.  Usually an hour is all it takes and she will attach to you within a day or two and, at that point, will be your 4-legged shadow.  She has learned to walk on a leash and really enjoys her daily walks.  Annie would be a great walking companion!  She is very pretty with her black and sable face and a long tail that wags continuously.  Annie has a very slight (but cute) under bite, and looks like she is always smiling.  She came from a kill shelter, and we have no history, other than we know she wants a family of her own to love and snuggle with.  She has been moved around a couple of times and she adapted very fast, she is such a smart girl.  Annie has learned her name quickly and comes running to you when called.  She would probably love to have someone teach her how to play fetch with a ball.  She is learning basic commands, but will need more training.  She gets along with her foster family’s other two rat terriers.  Annie has been with a cat, and she was fine.  She is not great with tiny dogs under 5 pounds.  She thinks they are toys, and plays too roughly.  All the other dogs, she is good with.  She is very excited when you come home and is still learning not to jump up.  We would probably not recommend her for a home with very young children because of her propensity to jump up on people.  Her foster home does not have children, but she seems to like everyone she meets.  She is very happy to sit with you when you relax in the evenings.  She rides well in a car, and loves squeaky toys and bones filled with peanut butter.  She can give high-fives and even high-tens!   Annie is a real love bug who desperately wants her own human family to love.  For more photos of Annie in her foster home, her album can be viewed here:

Colby – ADOPTED!!

Posted May 1, 2013 at 12:45 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!    This is Colby!  Our vets estimate his age at 6 to 7 years old.  He is a very handsome classic looking boy, and is a type B or Teddy Roosevelt Terrier, which basically means he has short legs.  He is approximately 18 pounds and 14 inches tall at the shoulder, with a nub of a tail. Colby acts much younger than his age and loves to play with toys.   He especially loves Milk Bone dog biscuits and animal crackers!  Colby can run like lightening and jump like a rabbit.  He LOVES to give kisses and can be pretty stealthy at it too, sneaking kisses in when you aren’t expecting them.  Colby gets along with all the dogs in his foster home.  He also likes children, and is pretty laid back and docile with them.  He listens well and walks nicely on a leash. Colby just completed heartworm treatment, and is ready for his new home.  Although he would prefer to sleep under the covers, he is crate trained. Colby enjoys the back yard, and is a quiet, dignified guest in his foster home.  He really loves a little lap time in the evenings.  After a while playing, a nap on the deck in the sun is a favorite spot. Colby is housebroken and doesn’t like being crated, but he will do as he is told.  He rides well in a car, preferring to lay on the floor in the back seat for a snooze until you get to your destination.  He had been living on a farm for the past few years but is back in foster care because his owners fell on hard times.  Are you looking for your new best friend?  Colby is taking applications for a new family now!  He will be a loyal, loving companion for the lucky family who adopts him.  Be sure to let him know, so he can pack his bags to come home!  For photos of Colby in his foster home, click here:
