Dewey – ADOPTED!!

Posted Sep 22, 2013 at 7:55 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!    This little guy is full of personality!  His name should have been “Happy, happy, happy!” because he is just that.  Dewey was found as a stray by a good Samaritan in Stuttgart, Arkansas.  He was taken to their home and went from 16 pounds to a healthy 19 pounds with proper care.  ResQ was asked to take him and find him a good home when a foster spot opened up, so Dewey is hanging out in Arkansas until his new home can be found.  Dewey is only about 2 years old, and weighs 19 pounds.  He is super playful, super friendly, and just a super dog.  He is crate trained, and doing very well with his house training.  He learned the doggie door the first day, and has been enjoying a big back yard in which to run and play.  Dewey is very affectionate and just melts into your lap with complete glee when you show him affection.  He sleeps in his crate without complaint, and wants to please his people.  We think Dewey would be an excellent companion for a family with children, as he has not shown one ounce of aggression when tested.  He has not been tested with cats, but that could probably be arranged.  He is a bit “soft” when it comes to loud noises, and he would rather stay with you than investigate with the more confident dogs.  Dewey is such a nice boy, and deserves a family of his own.  If you are interested in Dewey, his foster mom would be happy to fill you in on this happy boy.  The perfect home for Dewey would be one with a fenced-in backyard, and some kids to throw a ball for him.  This happy boy LOVES to retrieve tennis balls.  He carries one around with him, just hoping for someone to toss it for him, then he will bring it back and place it in your hand.   For more photos, check out his album:

Zoe – ADOPTED!!

Posted Sep 12, 2013 at 8:12 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!  Zoe is a beautiful brindle and white Rat Terrier mix.  We think there may be some Italian Greyhound in her heritage, due to her coloration and slender build.  Zoe also has the IG ears.   She was rescued from an overcrowded kill shelter in NC. She is approximately 2 years old and 14 pounds of energetic fun!  She is very grateful to be in a loving foster home and is learning how to handle all of the affection. She is very active and needs lots of space to run and get that Rat Terrier energy out. She gets along well with children and small dogs in the house. She enjoys going riding and does well uncrated in the car.  She is learning to like her seatbelt and walk on a leash.  Zoe is house trained and very playful.  Zoe does well crated at night, but prefers to be loose indoors during the day with human companionship. This beautiful girl would love to be part of a family who can give her lots of time and attention during the day. She has tons of love to offer and wishes to find her furever home very soon. She will be ready for adoption after her spay and recovery, about the end of September.  For more photos of this cutie enjoying life in her foster home, click here:

Hushpuppy – ADOPTED!!

Posted Sep 8, 2013 at 8:28 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!     Hushpuppy is a sweet girl who is ready to find her permanent home.  She is between 1 and 2 years old, and is an active type “A” Rat Terrier.  She is also very beautiful!  She is well-mannered in the house, and is doing wonderfully with her house training.  She is happy and friendly, and would do well in just about any home situation.  She was a bit nervous about being picked up by someone she didn’t know at first, so we would recommend a home with children over 5.  She loves men and women equally, and is friendly and happy to meet visitors in her foster home.  Hushpuppy weighs 13 pounds, and loves to sit in your lap and help you read a book or watch TV.  Keeping your lap warm is her favorite thing in the world!  She seems to be familiar with riding in cars, and does fine on a leash.  Hushpuppy just “turned up” on the doorstep of her foster mom’s house, so we suspect someone knew she would be safe and taken care of.  Hushpuppy gets along with all the dogs in her foster home and especially likes to play with her young foster brother, Chipper.  They run and play until they are both exhausted.  She likes to play with toys, too!  This special little girl will be a great addition to just about any family.  She even loved everyone at the vet!  If you are interested in Hushpuppy, please fill out an application.  We have a feeling she won’t be homeless long.  For more photos of Hushpuppy in her foster home, check her album:

Rascal – ADOPTED!!

Posted Sep 8, 2013 at 3:31 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!  Let me introduce you to…. Rascal!  Approximately, 2 1/2 yrs old, 25lbs and 14” tall at the shoulder, he is a smart and handsome character.  He is completely housebroken and crate trained and LOVES toys.  In fact, he is a toy hog and wants anything someone else is playing with at all times.  He takes all the toys out of the basket every day to play and has them strewn about for when the moment strikes him.  He will bring toys to you to play tug o’ war and loves to play catch with the tennis ball, but fetching needs work since there is much competition among his foster fur siblings.  We are working on Frisbee now.  He is allowed to be loose indoors when no one is home or at night and has not been destructive to anything in the house.  Rascal will sleep at the foot of the bed quietly all night long but doesn’t seem to like to be under the covers as the others do.  He has taken to behavior corrections well and has truly blossomed in foster care.  Rascal will bark at all strangers and does have some fear anxiety around people he doesn’t know very well, however, he has a sense of children and fragile adults and treats them appropriately.  He has gotten compliments from visitors saying how much his greeting has been toned down.  He would be fine with children over age 5, but his playful attitude might be too much for a human toddler.  Rascal is living with several smaller rat terriers and two 70lb labra doodles who want nothing to do with him but he tries to get them to play constantly!  He is defensive among his fur siblings and will wrestle the 10lb alpha female of the house gently.  Rascal has a cute under bite which makes him look like a meanie, (or Elvis) and his soulful eyes look deeply into yours when he’s paying attention.  Rascal doesn’t dig to get out of the yard and has never tried to run out the front door.  He just wants to be by your side.  Rascal does well in a car, walks nicely on a leash, takes treats ever so gently and LOVES ice cubes!  After a long hard day of play, he settles down to let you know he’s tired and ready for bed, usually by 10pm and doesn’t want to wake too early… but by 8am or so, he is looking to go out to do his business. If you have an icemaker, an open heart and love the terrier ‘tude, then this dude is for you!  This winter is his second in foster care and all he wants for Christmas is a furever home of his own.  Rascal is UTD on all shots, neutered and on heartworm prevention.  Apply to adopt him today and he’ll pack up his toys to come home. Check back for more updates on his progress and album additions here.
