Scout – ADOPTED!!

Posted Apr 28, 2014 at 3:23 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!   Scout is a happy-go-lucky puppy whose tail is a continuous blur because he wags it constantly!  He is a beautiful lemon and white boy with shorter legs than his sister, Piper.  (Piper is also available for adoption through Rat Terrier ResQ)  Scout weighs about 10 pounds and is estimated to be about 5 months old.  Scout really needs an active home, and wouldn’t mind being adopted with his sister so they can spend the rest of their lives together because they are very bonded.  But he understands if that’s not a possibility.  He would do best with children over 5 who know how to play gently with a puppy.  A fenced-in yard would be a great bonus, as he loves to run and play in the backyard of his foster home.  Scout likes a lot of attention from his foster family, and especially the children.  He is a bit cautious at first, and then after a bit of reassurance he is very friendly to everyone he meets.  Scout is working very hard on house training, and sleeps through the night with his sister in a crate and doesn’t make a peep.  Scout is ready for his new family!  If you are looking for an active puppy for lots of play and tons of puppy love, look no further than Scout!  For more photos of Scout and his sister in their foster home, click here:

Piper – ADOPTED!!

Posted Apr 28, 2014 at 3:17 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!  Piper is an extremely sweet, tail-wagging puppy who loves to play and snuggle with her family and her brother, Scout.  (Scout is also available for adoption with Rat Terrier ResQ.)  She weighs about 10 pounds and is estimated to be about 5 months old.  Piper would love an active home so she could run and play.  She would do well adopted alone, or with her brother, Scout.  They are bonded and get along well together, but can be adopted separately if necessary.  She would do best with children that are 5 years and older, who know how to play gently.  A fenced-in yard would be a great bonus, as she loves to run free.  Piper likes lots of attention from her foster parents and the children in the home.  She is working on house training and is a very obedient little girl.  Piper sleeps through the night contently in her crate with her brother.  Both Piper and Scout are ready for loving families who can provide lots of play, action, and tons of puppy love!  For more photos of these charming puppies, click here:

Levi – ADOPTED!!

Posted Apr 26, 2014 at 10:36 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!    Levi is about a year old and weighs a whopping 6 pounds!  Because of his tiny size, we feel sure that Levi is half chihuahua, but we couldn’t leave him in the small town shelter in which we found Levi and his brother, Luke.  They are both adorable little men!  Levi is a happy guy, always wagging his tail and looking for a lap to sit in.  He especially likes taking naps in a pile of fresh, warm laundry, and is so little that it’s easy to misplace him when he borrows into the pile.  Unfortunately, his former owners didn’t keep him on heartworm preventative, and Levi has tested positive.  So that means he will have to go through treatment and won’t be ready until about the end of June, 2014. Our Facebook family has donated the necessary funds to get him treated, and for that, we are truly grateful. Levi is crate trained and sleeps well in his crate at night.  He is working hard on his house training, and will be learning how to walk on a leash before he goes to his new home.  For more photos of this handsome lad, check his album:

Luke – ADOPTED!!

Posted Apr 26, 2014 at 10:32 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!   Luke was pulled from a small city shelter along with his brother, Levi.  Luke weighs a whopping 6 pounds!  Because of his small size, we are fairly certain that Luke is half chihuahua, but he certainly has all the attributes of a Rat Terrier!  Luke is affectionate and playful, and will shower you with kisses if you let him.  He is crate trained and is working very hard on learning his house training manners.  He plays well with the other dogs in his foster home, and we will be working on leash training as soon as we can find a harness small enough to fit him!  Luke is a happy guy, and would do well in just about any home or apartment.  We think he would be fine with children, and would be happy to test him with cats.  Luke and his brother get along well, except at supper time, when they prefer separate bowls.  For more photos of this little guy in  his foster home, click here:

Jaxon – ADOPTED!!

Posted Apr 26, 2014 at 10:27 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!  Jaxon is a very happy-go-lucky guy!  He loves to play, especially with a big ball in the backyard.  But, in true Rat Terrier fashion, he loves to cuddle with his people too.  The perfect home for Jaxon would have a fenced-in back yard where he can run and play to his heart’s content.  He will run and chase his ball for hours!  It’s so charming to watch him playing doggie soccer, and he’s good at it!  He is good with the other dogs and cats in his foster home, and we believe he would be fine with older children.  This adorable little guy is 7 years old, but acts like a puppy.  And since Rat Terriers typically live an average of about 15 years, Jaxon will be a great companion for years to come.  Jaxon acts like a puppy, and would love an active family to call his own.  He is about 13 pounds, and is doing well with his house training.  He doesn’t like being crated, but he wants badly to please his people, so he would adapt to crating if you needed him to.  For more photos of this guy, check his photo album:

Blu – ADOPTED!!

Posted Apr 6, 2014 at 3:08 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!   Blu is a one-year old male rat terrier that weighs 11 pounds.  He is housebroken and leash trained.  Blu also loves his crate, and will go into it when you ask him to, and will also go in when he wants to take a nap.  He is a sweet boy who is looking for people to love him.  Blu will need a quiet home where he can just be laid-back and relaxed.  He was living in a city that was way too big and scary for him, and all the noises and people were just too much.  He loves playing with the other dogs and he does great on a farm.  He enjoys going out into a fenced yard and has learned how to use the doggie door.  This boy is pretty docile and low-key.  When you hold him he mushes right into you, and is just so loveable.  Blu likes to chew on bones and sit in front of the fireplace.  He is great with the cat in his foster home.  We think he would be fine with children over 6, but would probably be afraid of younger kids hurting him or making him nervous.  He is not used to riding in a car, so he would need more exposure to that before he becomes comfortable riding in a car.  If you are interested, you really need to meet this boy to see how really great he is.  If you are looking for a new friend, maybe this is your guy!  For photos of Blu in his foster home, click here:

Paco Bear – ADOPTED!!

Posted Apr 6, 2014 at 3:00 pm in Latest News

ADOPTED!!  Paco Bear (we call him “Bear”) is a male Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix about 6 years old.  He weighs about 9 pounds.  He acts much younger than his age, and plays like a young dog.  He is active and likes to run around, playing in the yard with the other dogs. But, when it’s time to come in, he wants to snuggle on your lap for some nap time.  He loves everyone he meets and thrives on all the attention he can get.  He is a sweet boy that will melt your heart with those chocolate brown eyes.  Bear is housebroken and leash trained.  He is living with a cat, but he likes to chase her and sometimes he does pull a few hairs out of her tail, so it would be best if he goes to a home without cats.  Because of his small size, we feel that Bear would do fine in a home with children over six years old.  Bear is crate trained and will run right into his crate when asked to do so.  He is such a good boy!  He does love sleeping in the human bed, but will sleep in the crate quietly if he is asked to. Bear is loving his second chance at life. He just had a dental cleaning so he has great breath, and he is showing it off by kissing everyone he meets! Please consider giving this amazing boy a great home. Because of his small size, we feel he would do better in a home with children over six years old.
