Tell ’em Rat Terrier ResQ sent you!
In an attempt to assist as many Rats as possible, Rat Terrier ResQ has added this page as a courtesy listing, to showcase Rat Terriers in the care of other rescue groups. These dogs are not part of our foster system, and so we can make no guarantees as to their health or temperaments.
Also, our rescue friends at New Rattitude, ARTRA/National Rat Terrier Rescue and Rat Terrier Rescue Canada have wonderful Ratties in need of homes! If you can’t find the perfect match with Rat Terrier ResQ, we do hope you’ll check into those groups!
Male, neutered, young adult
Thumper is a jumper. He can jump high and likes to see things from above. He enjoys laying on top of the trampoline and watching the birds. He arrived with his buddy, Bambi, from a high kill shelter in South Carolina. He is a little force with a macho-sounding bark that doesn’t match his size. He loves people and to give kisses. He gets along well with cats, dogs, and children! He is house broken, but still gets confused due to being in locations where he had to go potty inside. He knows and uses a doggy door. He weighs about 8 pounds. He is heartworm negative and healthy. He is crate trained but prefers to be right next to you. He likes sitting on your lap. He is working on walking on a leash. He is being trained by a group of college students who are learning how to work with rescue dogs for class credit. There isn’t much history about what his life was like before being saved. It appears he may not have had too much experience in a home. He really loves his buddy Bambi and the best situation would be that they go together, but he should be fine without him. He is a real sweetie! His adoption fee is $175.

Bambi comes to town with his close buddy, Thumper, from a high-kill shelter in South Carolina. He is much cuter in person! There isn’t much history about what his life was like before being rescued. He is very sweet and loves to give kisses. He is great with children and adults. He tolerates cats and leaves them alone. He is fine with other dogs, but needs support when introduced to a bigger dog. Upon arriving in his foster home, he acted very curious about the bath tub, the grill cover, and the beds. It seems quite possible he has not been in a home for very long. He is working on house training but still gets confused due to being in locations where he had to go potty inside. He knows and uses a doggy door. He is crate trained but gets anxious when left alone during the day and will bark. When he gets his forever home this should diminish. We are working on walking on a leash. He weighs about 12 pounds. He is heartworm negative and healthy. He is being trained by a group of local college students who are learning how to work with rescue dogs for class credit. He really loves his buddy Thumper, and the best situation would be that they go together, but he should be fine with or without him. Bambi loves to follow along with what the other dogs are doing, showing his easy-going personalty. He really is a love bug, bug you have to watch him, because he loves socks! Bambi’s adoption fee is $175.
