Gracie

Sex: Female  •   Located in: Florida   •   Age: Adult

*Gracie is being fostered in Babson Park, FL.*

Gracie2

ResQ would like to introduce Gracie!  Gracie is a beautiful 6 year-old female Rat Terrier weighing about 17 lbs.   She is crate trained, housebroken, and gets along with everyone including dogs, cats, and older children.  Gracie was very quick to adapt to her foster home, and is very happy with her foster family, but she needs a home of her own.  She is a sweet and extremely affectionate dog.  Like most rat terriers, she is full of energy and loves to run around but is also content to sit in your lap and drown you in doggie kisses.  Gracie could be the perfect addition to your family.  For more photos of Gracie in her Florida foster home, Click on her album here:

Maverick

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Missouri   •   Age: Adult

*Maverick is being fostered in Cape Girardeau, MO.*

Hello prospective adopters!  We’d love to introduce a new boy with ResQ, Maverick!  Maverick was rescued from a shelter on his last day of life.  He sat there for months being overlooked and was beginning to think nobody wanted him.  If someone would have taken him out of his tiny kennel and got to know him, they would have realized what a great dog he really is.  In Maverick’s foster home, he is one of five dogs.  From the minute he walked in the door, he fit in so well you would have thought he had been there forever.  He gets along great with other dogs, but we’re not sure about cats.  Maverick loves to run in play in the back yard, and at the same time loves to just snuggle with his foster parents on the couch to watch his favorite television shows.  More than anything else, Maverick loves to play fetch.  He will run after a stick or ball for hours.  He will bring it right back to you to throw again and again!   He is almost house trained, with an accident every now and then, but he is trying hard to be a good boy!  He has learned how to sit, is working on stay, but as soon as that ball is thrown, he is after it.  If you are looking for a great dog, look no further.  He is crate trained, and loves to sleep in bed with his foster parents too.  For more photos of this handsome guy, check his album:CLICK HERE

ADOPTED!! Tiny

Sex: Female  •   Located in: New York   •   Age: Adult

*ADOPTED!! Tiny is being fostered in Mastic Beach, New York.*

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Shear family!

Tiny remains a big sweetheart, even after all she’s been through.  Even though she was a good girl, her owner abandoned her at the big scary shelter for no apparent reason.  Tiny was confused and missed her family, but she didn’t give up on humans!  Tiny is approximately 5 years old, and a little nervous at first in a new situation.  But most of us would be too, especially if you didn’t understand what was happening to you.  She lives up to her name, because she only weighs a little over 10 pounds.  She is a tiny thing!  She has long, delicate legs.  She prefers to be sitting in your lap, no matter what you might be doing, or whether you needed a lap dog or not!   Tiny is housebroken and crate trained, and walks very nicely on leash. She is good with other dogs and can be cat scanned upon request.  She loves cheese and will jump 4 feet into the air with joy for a treat!  Do you have a little room in your heart and home for a sweetheart like Tiny?  For more photos of Tiny as she settles into her NY foster home, check her album often: Click Here YouTube Preview Image

Lefty

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Tennessee   •   Age: Adult

*Lefty is being fostered in Portland, Tennessee.*

Lefty

Lefty is a tall standard rat terrier, weighing about 26 pounds. It’s hard to imagine, but he was a very skinny 16 pounds when he was picked up as an emaciated and neglected stray.  The shelter volunteer nick-named him “Honeybun” because that’s what they had to use to catch him.  Despite all the hardships in his short life, Lefty still loves everyone.  He likes men and women equally, and thinks he is a 10-pound lap dog!  Lefty can be a bit head-strong at times, and really needs someone with a firm hand.  A terrier-wise family would be great, because he is a big guy!  He gets along with all of the dogs in his foster home unless he is challenged, and then he will stick up for himself.   Lefty wants to please his master, and obeys commands when given authoritatively.  He is very playful and usually gets along with all of the dogs in his foster home, even the smaller dogs.  He has very long legs and loves to chase squirrels and birds in the backyard of his foster home.  Because of his prey drive, he is not good with cats.  And because he is a big boy who loves to play, he would probably be better with children over 6.  His perfect home would have a fenced backyard so he could get plenty of exercise.  We don’t think he would be a good candidate for an apartment dog.  He is crate trained (sleeps willingly in a crate) and completely housebroken with a doggie door.  He is extremely loving and affectionate, and walks great on a leash.  He also likes to ride in the car!  There’s just nothing bad to say about this wonderful guy.  For more photos of Lefty in his foster home, check his album often: http://ImageEvent.com/coram/lefty

Sophie

Sex: Female  •   Located in: Connecticut   •   Age: Adult

*Sophie is being fostered in Bristol, CT.*

This pretty girl is named Sophie!  Sophie is a chocolate and white Rat Terrier, and weighs about 12 pounds.  We think she is about 7 years old.  This beautiful dog is a sweet and loving girl, and you will fall in love with her quickly!   She enjoys her walks and is very good on a leash.  Sophie is housebroken, but will use a potty pad on occasion if she can’t get outside. Sophie is also crate trained. She loves to take rides in the car and sleep in bed with her people, covered with a blanket, of course!  Sophie is very people-oriented, but fast-moving kids make her nervous, so she tends to scurry away.  We think she would be fine with children over 6.  She has shown absolutely no aggression when she is nervous, she just walks around or goes to a quiet place.  Her new family will need to allow her time to get settled and learn the routine. She has not been cat scanned but we will do that soon.  If her personality is a way to judge cat tolerance, we think she would be fine with cats.  Sophie’s favorite past time is to lay in the sun and enjoy life!  She would be a devoted companion to some lucky family, could that be yours?

Louie

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Texas   •   Age: Adult

*Louie is being fostered in Garland, Texas.*

Louie is about 4 years old, and is a very tall fellow (14″ at the shoulder) and weighs about 18 pounds.  He’s very friendly and happily greets everyone he sees.   Riding in the car is fun if the window is down (and locked) 2 or 3 inches so he can smell the outside air.  He is good on a leash and and gets very excited when he sees his harness.  Louie loves to sleep in the bed, either on top or underneath the covers, depending on the weather.  Louie is housebroken and a doggie door champ!  Louie is quite a talker — he grumbles and groans when he is settling down to a nap or shifting under the bedcovers at night.  ”Louie” is the name given to him by the shelter folks, but he responds to the name “Hawk.”  His foster mom thought he deserved a new name in his new life, which fits the Mohawk-like streak down the back of his neck.  Louie has good manners, sitting quietly, waiting for his turn for treats or dinner.  He knows what a “hug” is, and will ask for one by sitting at your feet and pawing the air.  He will get onto his foster mom’s lap for short hugs, but then he is ready to get down.  He loves to play and wrestle with his people, and has a soft mouth.  He minds well.  Louie (aka Hawk) enjoyed the grandkids (4, 7 and 9) for an afternoon of play.   He does play with other dogs, especially his rat terrier housemates.  This young man will make a fun and loving companion and an excellent watchdog.  Is he for you?  See more of Louie http://imageevent.com/ratterrierresq/louie

***Axle Rose***

Sex: Male  •   Located in: California   •   Age: Adult

****Axle Rose*** is being fostered in Fresno, California.*

Axle
I’d like you to meet Axle. Axle is an 9 year old Rat Terrier weighing in at about 18 pounds. He is a loving, smart and playful guy. Axle is healthy and happy; he does have cataracts in both eyes. That doesn’t stop his from doing the things he loves like playing fetch, tug o war, soccer, and “Find It”, etc. Axle was taught in his former home several commands that he still understands and uses daily. It’s very sad that such a great dog like this was not found by his humans. It’s obvious to his foster mom, that someone has spent a lot of time training him. Axle is house trained, crate trained, uses a doggie door, has good recall, walks on a leash with a harness well, is a great watch dog and will even talk to you when he wants to play. Driving in the car is on the top of his list of fun things to do. Even though Axle has a cataract it sure doesn’t hinder is ability to play fetch and the “Find It” game and all the other games he begs to play daily. He’ll even play by himself if he has to. Axle gets along with his foster canine brother and sister well, but would love to be an only dog or with another female dog.
