Dogs who are Adult (2 - 8 years)
Mack
Sex: Male • Located in: Arkansas • Age: Adult
*Mack is being fostered in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.*
When Mack’s family In Arkansas moved away and left him behind, luckily it was outdoors where the neighbors could feed and water him to keep him from starving. When it was obvious that the family was gone for good, animal control came to pick up Mack and discovered that the dog left inside the house was dead. So Mack is a lucky boy. He is about 15 pounds, and very solidly built. His fostermom said “He’s built like a Mack truck!” and that’s how he got his name. He is very docile and laid back, and not at all hyper or clingy. Mack is friendly and seems to like everyone. He gets along with all the dogs in his fosterhome, and we think he would be fine with kids, due to his gentle temperament. He is crate trained and doing very well with his housetraining. Unfortunately, he was not well taken care of, and he will have to endure heartworm treatment. Mack will not be ready for adoption until late October. But this little guy is definitely worth waiting for. He may be short in stature, but his heart is big, and this little cutie would do well in just about any family or home environment. Joanie
Sex: Female • Located in: New Jersey • Age: Adult
*Joanie is being fostered in Berlin, New Jersey.*
Joanie is a black and white smooth coat teddy type rat terrier who is about 3 years old. She weighs only 9 lbs. and stands 10 inches tall at the shoulders. She has erect ears, a tricolor head, brown eyes and a short little tail. Joanie is a people-person. Errr … People-Dog. She would probably be very happy as an only dog. As an alpha female, she tends to get possessive of her person, but she has learned to share couch time with her foster brothers and sisters. She REALLY loves being close to you, and thrives on attention. Joanie is great with kids (toddlers) and tolerates cats. Joanie has a close relationship right now with Chachi, who was with her when she was found. She can be a bit bossy but is learning at her foster home to fall in with the pack for walks, feeding and grooming time. Joanie is a smart, quick little girl who enjoys a quick sprint as much as a quiet nap. She is crate-trained and currently prefers sharing her crate with her BFF — Chachi. She is an athletic little gal who runs, jumps and climbs with the best of them. She can scale a chain link fence if the mood strikes her, so that needs to be taken into consideration for placement into her new home. Chachi
Sex: Male • Located in: New Jersey • Age: Adult
*Chachi is being fostered in Berlin, New Jersey.*
Chachi is a little black and white teddy-type rat terrier who we estimate to be about 3 years old. He weighs about 14 lbs., stands 12 inches tall, has erect ears and a mostly black head with brown eyes. He has a smooth coat and a tail that he wags with all of his heart and soul. Chachi is housetrained and will alert you with a little whine at the door when he has to potty. He is crate-trained and seems to regard the crate as his safe place when he gets sleepy or anxious (such as during big, bad thunderstorms). This smart boy has quickly picked up “sit” in the few days he’s been at this foster home and waits to be invited up on furniture before he makes himself comfortable. He is very affectionate with adult humans and loves quiet petting and snuggling. He is protective of his humans so he’ll growl a warning at other dogs trying to nudge him out of the prime spot next to you. Chachi would be okay being an only dog, but he does get along with his foster siblings most of the time. Outside he’s a little butt-wiggling ball of energy, interested in anything and everything. He’s a bird and squirrel tracker, he’ll bark fiercely at intruders in your yard, and trots along nicely on a leash. He may be short in stature but he can jump and climb with the best of them. He can easily scale a chain link fence if the mood strikes him to go off exploring. Chachi is tolerant of cats but not very tolerant of children – especially toddlers who might grab at him. So a home with no small children would be best. Enjoy some photos and video of Chachi in all of his handsome glory at this link. Click Here!

ADOPTED!! Swai
Sex: Female • Located in: New Jersey • Age: Adult
*ADOPTED!! Swai is being fostered in Berlin, New Jersey.*

Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Ford family!
Sweet, Sweet Swai! Swai is a quiet, little teddy-type rat terrier who is looking for a safe, loving home. Swai’s family had to give her up when someone developed allergies so now she’s ready to start over. Swai is white with brown spots, and her face is tricolor with big, understanding brown eyes. She is 11 inches tall, 14 inches long and is just a tad zaftig — tipping the scales at 14 lbs. (but currently working on losing a few with a healthy new diet and exercise). She is about six years old and is housebroken, walks like a lady on a leash, rides patiently in the car, and when she gets playful she trots around the lawn in celebration. Swai has settled into her foster home with ease, uses a low growl to assert herself, but is definitely submissive when challenged. She does not want to fight and she prefers to play gently. Swai can be timid with strangers at first. She definitely needs an understanding family who will be as gentle with her as she is with them. She enjoys getting brushed or petted and thoroughly enjoys soft belly rubs and quiet times at your side while you’re reading, working on the computer or watching TV. Swai bonded quickly with her foster mom and is very loving. If you would like a furry companion that has a lot of love to give, Swai is the gal for you!
