Dogs who are Adult (2 - 8 years)

Nooglebug

Sex: Female  •   Located in: Wisconsin   •   Age: Adult

*Nooglebug is being fostered in Green Bay.*

NooglebugWIAn Arkansas-wide plea was posted to try to save this darling little girl in the Cabot shelter. She had a broken leg. A trip to the Cabot vet produced a very poor diagnosis, and the vet’s advice was to amputate the leg because the two bones wouldn’t line up. She has a complete break of both bones in her front leg, close to the paw where the bones are tiny. ResQ wasn’t ready to give up on her leg, so we had one of our vets look at her. He recommended splinting the leg and hoping for the best. But as evidenced from her x-ray, it wasn’t lined up well at all. We opted to send Noogie (also called “Bug,”) to our orthopedic specialist in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She underwent expensive surgery to plate the bones on February 12th. This little girl, about 5 years old, has always had a smile on her face and a wag in her tail. She loves everyone she meets, and the feeling is mutual. This is a very special little girl who deserves a chance at being whole again. Please see more photos of Noogie!

Rose

Sex: Female  •   Located in: Arkansas   •   Age: Adult

*Rose is being fostered in Arkadelphia.*

RoseAR2Rose is a tiny, delicate little girl who weighs only 10 pounds and is about 2 years old, maybe a little younger. She loves her crate and prefers to sleep in it. She will also seek out her crate when the household becomes too noisy. Rose is a little diva when it comes to the other dogs in her foster home, and can be very bossy. She doesn’t care to share her human with anyone, and gets downright indignant if one of the other dogs try to get some of her lap time. For these reasons, we think Rose should be an only dog. Rose’s former owner was a man, so she likes men and women equally. Rose is quirky about meeting new people, and she will take a week or two to adjust to any new home. She is extremely afraid of being picked up by someone she doesn’t know, and will yelp. After a week in her foster home, she let her foster mom pick her up and handle her, and Rose runs and jumps up in her lap, but she had to learn to trust her foster mom on her own time. She would be a great pet for a quiet home, such as a retired couple or a single person. Because of her nervousness about being handled by strangers, we don’t recommend Rose for a home with young children. Rose would be an excellent apartment dog, since she walks well on a leash and loves to go for walks. She does well with her housebreaking, as long as you remember to let her out when she goes to the door. In short, Rose is a great little dog for just the right home, and she is beautiful to boot! Please see more pictures of Rose.

Sid

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Florida   •   Age: Adult

*Sid is being fostered in Tampa.*

SidFL4Sid is a wonderful 4 year old male, who was rescued from a kill shelter. He is such a sweet guy, loves to be cuddled and is always giving kisses. He is very laid-back, but he loves going on his walks and looks forward to them. Leash walking him is so easy; he will walk right next to you. He likes being outdoors, so a home with a secured fenced yard would suit him best. He doesn’t mind being around other dogs, but isn’t much into interacting with them. He is submissive to other dogs and would not pick a fight. He will chase the tennis ball, but seems more content on being a lap dog. He is a friendly boy and will let anyone pet him including children. As long as someone pays attention to him he is happy. He likes to chase small animals so a home with cats would not be good for him. We think a home where he will get a lot of attention and affection would suit him best. Please see more pictures of Sid!

PENDING! Gizmo

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Florida   •   Age: Adult

*PENDING! Gizmo is being fostered in Babson Park.*

GizmoFL1

Adoption Pending!

CongRATulations to the Carreno family!

Hi! My name is Gizmo. I’m 3 years old and I weigh 14 lbs. Before I became a Rat Terrier ResQ dog, I was a stray in Northeast Arkansas. I was injured on the street and spent 3 days under a tree in a pile of snow before a nice volunteer came to get me. Due to my injuries, I was not eligible for adoption. Another volunteer arranged for me to take a plane ride to Florida where my foster mom was waiting for me. I’m doing much better now and am recovering from my injuries. I hope to be ready for my own family soon. I’m a really good boy. I sleep in my crate without complaining. I’m house trained, and I get along with everyone, including cats, dogs, and kids. I’m also very vocal and will talk to you if you like, but I promise not to bark too much. Do you have room in your heart and home for me? If so please adopt me, I have my own leash and will travel. If you’re wondering about my life on the streets, I’ll tell you all about it.  You can also see more pictures of me!

PENDING! Haydn

Sex: Female  •   Located in: Wisconsin   •   Age: Adult   •  Special needs? Yes

*PENDING! Haydn is being fostered in Green Bay.*

HaydnWI2

Adoption Pending!

CongRATulations to the Davis family!

Haydn’s story is a sad one. She was severely burned by her former owner and sustained third-degree burns over 30% of her back and side. Unfortunately, she received minimal medical care until recently, when she made it to ResQ. Currently, Haydn is on antibiotics, pain medication and Silvadene burn cream. She has also started cold laser therapy to heal the last open wound. Haydn, only about 2 years old, will need significant medical care for a while, including a possible wound revision surgery to help with the tightness the scars have caused since she has difficulty bending one of her rear legs. She may also need hydrotherapy to help with the strength in that leg. She is leery of new things, but we can see a very playful girl (at least, as playful as she can get with a cone on her head!) and believe that she has an incredible and joyful spirit inside her. Haydn is not yet available for adoption, but we’ll keep you posted here! Please see more pictures of Haydn, but be forewarned, they are a teensy bit graphic.

Pluto

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Florida   •   Age: Adult

*Pluto is being fostered in Valrico.*

PlutoFL4Hi, my name is Pluto. My foster mom named me after the planet, because I’m small. I weigh about 17 lbs and am about 3 to 5 years old. Before I came to live with my foster mom, I was homeless. I was brought to a shelter, but nobody came looking for me. After a while, my time was up. I was very scared, but then my foster mom showed up to take me out of that scary place. I’m a very good boy. I never go potty in the house. I’m learning to sit and stay, but I have to stay on a leash whenever I go outside. I like to go exploring, but I might get lost if I wander off. I met a 12-year-old kid and I loved him! I’m good with dogs and I met cats and totally ignored them! What I really, really wanted for Christmas was a family of my own, but no luck so far! Can you help me have a fantastic new year in a new home? Yours truly, Pluto [P.S. See more pictures of me!]

Warrior

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Texas   •   Age: Adult

*Warrior is being fostered in Austin.*

WarriorTX3Warrior is an awesome and handsome 12-pounder who came to ResQ after his owner surrendered them at the local kill shelter due to moving. Warrior is a healthy and happy young man who is about 2 years old. He is house trained, kennel trained, gets along well with all the dogs in the house, is a very sweet snuggle bunny, and is just an all-around great dog. Warrior is a calm thoughtful soul. Warrior loves to try to get his older Rattie siblings to play, but sometimes is a little overzealous with his play invitations, but he will submit. Warrior is a quick learner and is working on some basic training. He is a very easy boy to live with. Warrior will be a great family dog, especially if he has children to play with and throw balls for him to fetch. He would also be a sweet companion as an only dog. He can be “cat-scanned” upon request. Make sure you see more pictures of Warrior!

Tate

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Connecticut   •   Age: Adult

*Tate is being fostered in Waterbury.*

TateNY1Meet little man Tate! This adorable little guy is about 10 pounds and about 2 years old. He is very timid and skittish, but has progressed nicely in his foster home, playing with a couple of his foster brothers. He is still very nervous of fast movements and loud noises. Tate would blossom best in a quiet home without children and with patient human(s) who will give Tate time and space. He loves to sleep in bed, is very snuggly and doesn’t mind being close for petting and hugs. He will kiss your hand from time to time. He has been seen lifting his leg on several occasions, so we gird him up with a belly band to help avoid accidents. He uses a doggie door to do his business otherwise. This is a precious little soul that just yearns to let the ‘big dog’ come out of his little frame. A calm playmate would be good for Tate, but also being an only dog would allow for all the attention and love to be focused solely on him, which he deserves. Please only apply for this very special boy if you can give him the love and patience that he needs. He patiently awaits his special forever family.
