Tiny remains a big sweetheart, even after all she’s been through. Even though she was a good girl, her owner abandoned her at the big scary shelter for no apparent reason. Tiny was confused and missed her family, but she didn’t give up on humans! Tiny is approximately 5 years old, and a little nervous at first in a new situation. But most of us would be too, especially if you didn’t understand what was happening to you. She lives up to her name, because she only weighs a little over 10 pounds. She is a tiny thing! She has long, delicate legs. She prefers to be sitting in your lap, no matter what you might be doing, or whether you needed a lap dog or not! Tiny is housebroken and crate trained, and walks very nicely on leash. She is good with other dogs and can be cat scanned upon request. She loves cheese and will jump 4 feet into the air with joy for a treat! Do you have a little room in your heart and home for a sweetheart like Tiny? For more photos of Tiny as she settles into her NY foster home, check her album often: Click Here
Click here to view the embedded video.

It’s hard to imagine, but he was a very skinny 16 pounds when he was picked up as an emaciated and neglected stray. The shelter volunteer nick-named him “Honeybun” because that’s what they had to use to catch him. Despite all the hardships in his short life, Lefty still loves everyone. He likes men and women equally, and thinks he is a 10-pound lap dog! Lefty can be a bit head-strong at times, and really needs someone with a firm hand. A terrier-wise family would be great, because he is a big guy! He gets along with all of the dogs in his foster home unless he is challenged, and then he will stick up for himself. Lefty wants to please his master, and obeys commands when given authoritatively. He is very playful and usually gets along with all of the dogs in his foster home, even the smaller dogs. He has very long legs and loves to chase squirrels and birds in the backyard of his foster home. Because of his prey drive, he is not good with cats. And because he is a big boy who loves to play, he would probably be better with children over 6. His perfect home would have a fenced backyard so he could get plenty of exercise. We don’t think he would be a good candidate for an apartment dog. He is crate trained (sleeps willingly in a crate) and completely housebroken with a doggie door. He is extremely loving and affectionate, and walks great on a leash. He also likes to ride in the car! There’s just nothing bad to say about this wonderful guy. For more photos of Lefty in his foster home, check his album often: http://ImageEvent.com/coram/lefty

Sophie is also crate trained. She loves to take rides in the car and sleep in bed with her people, covered with a blanket, of course! Sophie is very people-oriented, but fast-moving kids make her nervous, so she tends to scurry away. We think she would be fine with children over 6. She has shown absolutely no aggression when she is nervous, she just walks around or goes to a quiet place. Her new family will need to allow her time to get settled and learn the routine. She has not been cat scanned but we will do that soon. If her personality is a way to judge cat tolerance, we think she would be fine with cats. Sophie’s favorite past time is to lay in the sun and enjoy life! She would be a devoted companion to some lucky family, could that be yours?

Axle is an 9 year old Rat Terrier weighing in at about 18 pounds. He is a loving, smart and playful guy. Axle is healthy and happy; he does have cataracts in both eyes. That doesn’t stop his from doing the things he loves like playing fetch, tug o war, soccer, and “Find It”, etc. Axle was taught in his former home several commands that he still understands and uses daily. It’s very sad that such a great dog like this was not found by his humans. It’s obvious to his foster mom, that someone has spent a lot of time training him. Axle is house trained, crate trained, uses a doggie door, has good recall, walks on a leash with a harness well, is a great watch dog and will even talk to you when he wants to play. Driving in the car is on the top of his list of fun things to do. Even though Axle has a cataract it sure doesn’t hinder is ability to play fetch and the “Find It” game and all the other games he begs to play daily. He’ll even play by himself if he has to. Axle gets along with his foster canine brother and sister well, but would love to be an only dog or with another female dog.
