Parker

Parker is a handsome one year old male. He is a tall guy (about 17 inches) and weighs around 15 pounds. He is very active and needs to have space to run and play. Although he is young, he is very smart and knows his basic commands, and how to properly walk on a leash. He is in training right now to be a very well-adjusted, happy dog. He definitely needs to have humans who can be his leaders. He is a follower, and should not be given too much leeway. He knows his boundaries and will not jump on furniture or go where he is not allowed to be in the house. He is housebroken and uses the doggie door to go potty outside. He adores being around people, and loves playing with other dogs. He likes going to the dog parks and will run for hours with his dog friends. He likes being chased and playing with his toys. He would do best in a home where there is another playful dog, a home with children to play with him, and a very, very active owner. Jorj

Hello, my name is Jorj! I’ve been told that’s a fancy spelling for “George,” but hey, I come when you call me, especially for dinner! I am about 8 months old and weigh 13 pounds, and am a handsome boy! I love to play, play, play with other dogs, but I’m not sure if I would like cats or not. My favorite thing to do is snuggle on the couch with my new foster dad! He tells me that I’m doing great with my house training, and he doesn’t fuss at me when I forget every once in a while, mostly when I’m busy playing. I sleep through the night with no accidents, too! I am a puppy, so I can be a bit mouthy when I’m playing, but I’m learning. I need to have plenty of chewies, because I love to chew! My foster dad says it’s better to buy rawhides than new furniture! Ghillie

Please meet shy, silly Ghillie, a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix! Ghillie is approximately 1 year old and he’s all legs right now – 14″ tall and about 12 pounds. His foster mom is feeding him such oh-so-good kibble that he’s sure to gain a few more needed pounds. Ghillie is crate trained and is quiet all through the night. He is house trained and gets along with 6 other Ratties in his foster home. He LOVES to ride in cars, is easy to walk on a leash and enjoys meeting new people. His favorite place is in your lap – on his back and belly up in the air for all to see. He sleeps on the bed at night and stays until its time to get up. He has been cat-scanned – he showed interest but no aggression. He would do well with children but may be a bit timid in an extremely loud environment. Ghillie is a sweet boy who needs a loving home with an empty lap waiting just for him. Make sure you see more pictures of this cutie pie!

Ruger
Sex: Male • Located in: Arkansas • Age: Young
*Ruger is being fostered in Arkadelphia.*
The locals call it the Grand Prairie of Arkansas, and that’s where Ruger is from. It’s the flat farmland before you get to the Mississippi River, and it flooded in December. Ruger was kept outdoors in the Carlisle shelter when it flooded and the nighttime temps were below freezing. Local vets jumped into action and got all the dogs safe and warm, and contacted us about Ruger. Ruger was terribly underweight, but otherwise healthy. He now weighs about 15 pounds. He is estimated to be 18 months old and is doing wonderfully with house training. He walks great on a leash, and loves to ride in the car. Ruger loves to run, just for the sheer joy of running. He likes to play with the young dogs in his foster home and do super-sonic rat runs in the backyard. This active boy really needs a fenced backyard to keep him safe. He is protective of his people, and is afraid of thunderstorms, but not overly so. He does bark when someone strange comes to the door, but after he meets them he seems to like everyone. Ruger is just grateful to be warm and have his tummy full! Do you need a “pistol” of a dog like Ruger in your life?

Skeeter
Sex: Male • Located in: New Jersey • Age: Young
*Skeeter is being fostered in Berlin.*
Skeeter is a happy, energetic, spirited little guy who doesn’t seem to have any fears. He’s willing to engage anyone in play – from dogs his size to a 160 lb Great Dane. He loves toys of all kinds but especially loves chasing tennis balls – he’s an excellent catcher! He’s a big kisser, very affectionate and loves cuddling under blankets with you while watching TV or napping. He is crate-trained and house-trained, comes when you call his name and has recently learned to walk on a leash but he’s still easily distracted by squirrels. He will chase a cat if it runs, but if they stand their ground, he backs off. He’s very protective of his food so he’ll growl if other dogs look at him while he’s eating. Skeeter likes kids but he’s still a little nippy when grabbing toys or treats (still a little puppy behavior left in him). Skeeter is 18 months and weighs 20 pounds. He’d love to have a home for the holidays — maybe it’s yours? Make sure you see more pictures of Skeeter!

Casey

Casey is a wonderful young man, 11 months old and about 10 lbs. His legs are a little shorter than average but that doesn’t hold him down any. Casey loves to play with bones or chew toys and play chase with one or more of the other dogs. He uses a doggie door like a champ though he has to be reminded occasionally to go outside. Casey is just fabulous! He is funny and absolutely full of cuteness. He has been known to sleep with his head in his food dish — just in case he misses the dinner bell! He likes to sleep under the covers, on your lap, up against you on the sofa (under his blankie) — he’s not particular! Casey is energetic, full-of-life, and has a gentle soul. He can be a bit of a talker when he wants something. He likes to nibble on one’s fingers though he has a very soft mouth when he plays with his person. To know him is to love him. He would do just fine with children six and older. He is very compatible with other dogs and people though he can be a little shy at first. Check out more pics!
