Sid is a wonderful 4 year old male, who was rescued from a kill shelter. He is such a sweet guy, loves to be cuddled and is always giving kisses. He is very laid-back, but he loves going on his walks and looks forward to them. Leash walking him is so easy; he will walk right next to you. He likes being outdoors, so a home with a secured fenced yard would suit him best. He doesn’t mind being around other dogs, but isn’t much into interacting with them. He is submissive to other dogs and would not pick a fight. He will chase the tennis ball, but seems more content on being a lap dog. He is a friendly boy and will let anyone pet him including children. As long as someone pays attention to him he is happy. He likes to chase small animals so a home with cats would not be good for him. We think a home where he will get a lot of attention and affection would suit him best. Please see more pictures of Sid!

Parker

Parker is a handsome one year old male. He is a tall guy (about 17 inches) and weighs around 15 pounds. He is very active and needs to have space to run and play. Although he is young, he is very smart and knows his basic commands, and how to properly walk on a leash. He is in training right now to be a very well-adjusted, happy dog. He definitely needs to have humans who can be his leaders. He is a follower, and should not be given too much leeway. He knows his boundaries and will not jump on furniture or go where he is not allowed to be in the house. He is housebroken and uses the doggie door to go potty outside. He adores being around people, and loves playing with other dogs. He likes going to the dog parks and will run for hours with his dog friends. He likes being chased and playing with his toys. He would do best in a home where there is another playful dog, a home with children to play with him, and a very, very active owner. Hi! My name is Gizmo. I’m 3 years old and I weigh 14 lbs. Before I became a Rat Terrier ResQ dog, I was a stray in Northeast Arkansas. I was injured on the street and spent 3 days under a tree in a pile of snow before a nice volunteer came to get me. Due to my injuries, I was not eligible for adoption. Another volunteer arranged for me to take a plane ride to Florida where my foster mom was waiting for me. I’m doing much better now and am recovering from my injuries. I hope to be ready for my own family soon. I’m a really good boy. I sleep in my crate without complaining. I’m house trained, and I get along with everyone, including cats, dogs, and kids. I’m also very vocal and will talk to you if you like, but I promise not to bark too much. Do you have room in your heart and home for me? If so please adopt me, I have my own leash and will travel. Hank Hobbit

Hank is an adorable puppy, and is 8 weeks old as of 2/1/10. He was left on a doorstep in East Texas, and ResQ was contacted. Hank is a happy and healthy puppy, and has started his routine shots. He weighs 4.6 pounds at 8 weeks, and is extremely self-confident and bold! He does love to snuggle in your lap and give puppy kisses, though. He has short little legs, which means he is a Teddy Roosevelt Terrier (formerly called a Type B Rat Terrier). His ears are going up, but aren’t quite there yet. Hank is just a beautiful puppy. Puppies don’t come any cuter than T.J. Hobbit! Originally from East Texas, he was left on a kind lady’s doorstep. He 8 weeks old on 2/1/10, when this photo was taken. He weighs 3.5 pounds, and has short little legs that move fast! He is extremely affectionate, and just a tad spoiled by his foster mom. T.J. is a seal-colored pup, which is a dark gray with a reddish tone in the sun. His ears are up! He is a typical puppy, full of play and puppy kisses. Ghillie

Please meet shy, silly Ghillie, a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix! Ghillie is approximately 1 year old and he’s all legs right now – 14″ tall and about 12 pounds. His foster mom is feeding him such oh-so-good kibble that he’s sure to gain a few more needed pounds. Ghillie is crate trained and is quiet all through the night. He is house trained and gets along with 6 other Ratties in his foster home. He LOVES to ride in cars, is easy to walk on a leash and enjoys meeting new people. His favorite place is in your lap – on his back and belly up in the air for all to see. He sleeps on the bed at night and stays until its time to get up. He has been cat-scanned – he showed interest but no aggression. He would do well with children but may be a bit timid in an extremely loud environment. Ghillie is a sweet boy who needs a loving home with an empty lap waiting just for him. Make sure you see more pictures of this cutie pie!

Ruger

The locals call it the Grand Prairie of Arkansas, and that’s where Ruger is from. It’s the flat farmland before you get to the Mississippi River, and it flooded in December. Ruger was kept outdoors in the Carlisle shelter when it flooded and the nighttime temps were below freezing. Local vets jumped into action and got all the dogs safe and warm, and contacted us about Ruger. Ruger was terribly underweight, but otherwise healthy. He now weighs about 15 pounds. He is estimated to be 18 months old and is doing wonderfully with house training. He walks great on a leash, and loves to ride in the car. Ruger loves to run, just for the sheer joy of running. He likes to play with the young dogs in his foster home and do super-sonic rat runs in the backyard. This active boy really needs a fenced backyard to keep him safe. He is protective of his people, and is afraid of thunderstorms, but not overly so. He does bark when someone strange comes to the door, but after he meets them he seems to like everyone. Ruger is just grateful to be warm and have his tummy full! Do you need a “pistol” of a dog like Ruger in your life?

Pluto

Hi, my name is Pluto. My foster mom named me after the planet, because I’m small. I weigh about 17 lbs and am about 3 to 5 years old. Before I came to live with my foster mom, I was homeless. I was brought to a shelter, but nobody came looking for me. After a while, my time was up. I was very scared, but then my foster mom showed up to take me out of that scary place. I’m a very good boy. I never go potty in the house. I’m learning to sit and stay, but I have to stay on a leash whenever I go outside. I like to go exploring, but I might get lost if I wander off. I met a 12-year-old kid and I loved him! I’m good with dogs and I met cats and totally ignored them! What I really, really wanted for Christmas was a family of my own, but no luck so far! Warrior

Warrior is an awesome and handsome 12-pounder who came to ResQ after his owner surrendered them at the local kill shelter due to moving. Warrior is a healthy and happy young man who is about 2 years old. He is house trained, kennel trained, gets along well with all the dogs in the house, is a very sweet snuggle bunny, and is just an all-around great dog. Warrior is a calm thoughtful soul. Warrior loves to try to get his older Rattie siblings to play, but sometimes is a little overzealous with his play invitations, but he will submit. Warrior is a quick learner and is working on some basic training. He is a very easy boy to live with. Warrior will be a great family dog, especially if he has children to play with and throw balls for him to fetch. He would also be a sweet companion as an only dog. Maynard

Howdy! Maynard is a Texas boy who is 8 months old (his birthdate is 4/28/09) and weighs about 13 pounds. He has Texas-sized ears, as you can see (!) and is probably a Teddy Roosevelt Terrier (which used to be called a Type B Rat Terrier). He has a full tail that wags constantly, and those short little legs certainly don’t keep him from running and playing all day! Maynard is very affectionate and loves to snuggle, and is a doggie-door champ at his foster home. He doesn’t even mind going outside to tend to his biz in rain, as long as it’s not a bad thunderstorm. This young dog has a lot of energy and spunk, and is certainly no couch potato. The perfect home for Maynard would have a fenced backyard and some older kids to play ball with! He might be a little rambunctious for toddlers. His foster mom says he is very smart and very trainable, and willing to please. If you’re looking for an active dog to have fun with the family, Maynard may be the one!
