Darla
Sex: Female • Located in: Arkansas • Age: Young
*Darla is being fostered in Arkadelphia, AR.*
Darla is 1 to 2 years old, and was picked up as a stray in central Arkansas. When the temps at the shelter reached 100 degrees, ResQ was asked to take her. Darla is an athelete, very strong and solidly built. She loves to run, chase tennis balls, tug-of-war, and play, play, play. She and her foster brother Ruger are best pals. Darla is housebroken with a doggie door, and loves to do rat runs in the backyard of her foster home. She weighs about 16 pounds, and is solid muscle, not an ounce of fat on this girl. Unfortunately, Darla has tested a light positive for heartworms, and has already begun her treatment. Keeping her inactive is going to be a challenge! She should be ready for adoption in September. Darla is probably fine with older children who like to play ball, and probably should have a fenced backyard or some other way to burn off energy. She is loving and loves to sit in laps, and sleep at the foot of your bed. For more photos of Darla in action, Click Here!

Serena
Sex: Female • Located in: Arkansas • Age: Baby
*Serena is being fostered in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.*
My name is Serena! Serena and her sister Venus passed the temperament test for adoption at the Austin TX shelter with flying colors, but for some reason, nobody adopted them. We don’t know why, because they are good girls! Serena is about 5 months old and weighs 7 pounds. She is working hard on her housetraining, and already is a pro with the doggie door! She and Venus love to run and play outside. Serena is black and white, with lots of ticking. She is more forceful and self-assured than her sister, and is very obviously the boss of the two. Serena has a very unusual bark, she sounds like a baby seal. She will “aarf” at another dog who tries to encroach in her laptime. She is a beautiful girl, and would be an excellent apartment dog or just about any family situation. Like her sister, Serena is full of personality and is very affectionate. Does your home need a little personality like Serena? Please see more pics of this girlie!

Venus
Sex: Female • Located in: Arkansas • Age: Baby
*Venus is being fostered in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.*
Meet Venus! Venus and her sister Serena were not adopted at the Austin, TX, shelter for some unknown reason, so they found themselves in danger of euthanasia. Venus is about 5 months old and weighs 7 pounds. She and her sister are really good girls, and are working hard on their housebreaking. They already know how to use a doggie door, and love to run and play outside. Venus is nearly all white, except for light tan ears. She is technically called an apricot and white, and has a black nose. She is a beautiful girl, and would be an excellent apartment dog or just about any family situation. Venus is a little more shy than her sister, but she is quiet and docile, and loves to sit in your lap. She is loving and very sweet, and doesn’t mind that her sister bosses her around a little. Do you have room for a little sweetie named Venus? see more pics of this girlie!

Apache
Sex: Male • Located in: Florida • Age: Adult
*Apache is being fostered in Valrico.*
Hi! My name is Apache. Before I came to Rat Terrier ResQ, I was a stray in south Florida. Volunteers rescued me from the shelter, and now I’m in a foster home. I’m about 2 years old and weigh about 16 lbs. I’m as cute as can be, if I do say so myself. I’m house trained, and I mind pretty well. My foster mother is teaching me manners, like she should go out the door before me. I’m learning to go into my crate on command, and actually, I’m getting good at it. I like everyone: kids, dogs, cats, although I sometimes bark at dogs I haven’t met yet, and might chase a cat, especially if it runs. I would really love to have a home and family of my own. Do you have room for me? Why don’t you have a look at more pictures of me?

Pepe
Sex: Male • Located in: Florida • Age: Young
*Pepe is being fostered in Babson Park.*
I’m Pepe. I am about a year old and weigh 18 pounds. Before I became a ResQ dog, I was a stray in south Florida. Volunteers rescued me from an animal shelter, and now I’m waiting for my forever home. I love, love, love kids and other dogs. I don’t mind cats, but I’m a little embarrassed to tell you that they scare me a little bit. I’m a really good boy. I sleep in my crate without complaining, and I’m house trained. I hardly ever bark, and I’m content to just sit in your lap or as close to you as I can. Do you have room in your heart and home for me? If so please adopt me, I have my own leash and will travel. Please check out some more pics of my handsome mug!

Ghillie
Sex: Male • Located in: Tennessee • Age: Young
*Ghillie is being fostered in Portland.*
Please meet shy, silly Ghillie, a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix! Ghillie is approximately 1 year old and he’s all legs right now – 14″ tall and about 17 pounds. His foster mom is feeding him such oh-so-good kibble that he’s sure to gain a few more needed pounds. Ghillie is crate trained and is quiet all through the night. He is house trained and gets along with 6 other Ratties in his foster home. He LOVES to ride in cars, is easy to walk on a leash and enjoys meeting new people. His favorite place is in your lap – on his back and belly up in the air for all to see. He sleeps on the bed at night and stays until its time to get up. He has been cat-scanned – he showed interest but no aggression. He would do well with children but may be a bit timid in an extremely loud environment. Ghillie is a sweet boy who needs a loving home with an empty lap waiting just for him. Make sure you see more pictures of this cutie pie!

Ruger
Sex: Male • Located in: Arkansas • Age: Young
*Ruger is being fostered in Arkadelphia.*
The locals call it the Grand Prairie of Arkansas, and that’s where Ruger is from. It’s the flat farmland before you get to the Mississippi River, and it flooded in December. Ruger was kept outdoors in the Carlisle shelter when it flooded and the nighttime temps were below freezing. Local vets jumped into action and got all the dogs safe and warm, and contacted us about Ruger. Ruger was terribly underweight, but otherwise healthy. He now weighs about 16 pounds. He is estimated to be 18 months old and is doing wonderfully with house training. He walks great on a leash, and loves to ride in the car. Ruger loves to run, just for the sheer joy of running. He likes to play with the young dogs in his foster home and do super-sonic rat runs in the backyard. This active boy really needs a fenced backyard to keep him safe. He is protective of his people, and is afraid of thunderstorms, but not overly so. He does bark when someone strange comes to the door, but after he meets them he seems to like everyone. Ruger is just grateful to be warm and have his tummy full! Do you need a “pistol” of a dog like Ruger in your life? Please see more photos of this GREAT dog!

Mick
Sex: Male • Located in: Florida • Age: Senior
*Mick is being fostered in Jupiter.*
Mick is a refined older gentleman (around 11 years old) that was rescued from a shelter in Miami where he was scheduled to be euthanized. This sweet 14-lb. boy is missing an eye, but he doesn’t let that stop him from being a great dog. Mick is house trained and extremely well mannered. He is fine around children and other dogs. Mick would make a great addition to your family! Don’t miss out on more photos of Mick.
