Dogs who are OK with Cats

Gizmo

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Florida   •   Age: Adult

*Gizmo is being fostered in Babson Park.*

GizmoFL1Hi! My name is Gizmo. I’m 3 years old and I weigh 14 lbs. Before I became a Rat Terrier ResQ dog, I was a stray in Northeast Arkansas. I was injured on the street and spent 3 days under a tree in a pile of snow before a nice volunteer came to get me. Due to my injuries, I was not eligible for adoption. Another volunteer arranged for me to take a plane ride to Florida where my foster mom was waiting for me. I’m doing much better now and am recovering from my injuries. I hope to be ready for my own family soon. I’m a really good boy. I sleep in my crate without complaining. I’m house trained, and I get along with everyone, including cats, dogs, and kids. I’m also very vocal and will talk to you if you like, but I promise not to bark too much. Do you have room in your heart and home for me? If so please adopt me, I have my own leash and will travel. If you’re wondering about my life on the streets, I’ll tell you all about it.  You can also see more pictures of me!

Hank Hobbit

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Arkansas   •   Age: Baby

*Hank Hobbit is being fostered in Arkadelphia.*

HankAR1Hank is an adorable puppy, and is 8 weeks old as of 2/1/10. He was left on a doorstep in East Texas, and ResQ was contacted. Hank is a happy and healthy puppy, and has started his routine shots. He weighs 4.6 pounds at 8 weeks, and is extremely self-confident and bold! He does love to snuggle in your lap and give puppy kisses, though. He has short little legs, which means he is a Teddy Roosevelt Terrier (formerly called a Type B Rat Terrier). His ears are going up, but aren’t quite there yet. Hank is just a beautiful puppy. He is being happily spoiled by his foster mom, who is going to hate to see this little darlin’ go! Please see more photos of Hank and his brother, T.J.!

Ghillie

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Tennessee   •   Age: Young

*Ghillie is being fostered in Portland.*

GhillieTN3Please meet shy, silly Ghillie, a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix! Ghillie is approximately 1 year old and he’s all legs right now – 14″ tall and about 12 pounds. His foster mom is feeding him such oh-so-good kibble that he’s sure to gain a few more needed pounds. Ghillie is crate trained and is quiet all through the night. He is house trained and gets along with 6 other Ratties in his foster home. He LOVES to ride in cars, is easy to walk on a leash and enjoys meeting new people. His favorite place is in your lap – on his back and belly up in the air for all to see. He sleeps on the bed at night and stays until its time to get up. He has been cat-scanned – he showed interest but no aggression. He would do well with children but may be a bit timid in an extremely loud environment. Ghillie is a sweet boy who needs a loving home with an empty lap waiting just for him. Make sure you see more pictures of this cutie pie!

Pluto

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Florida   •   Age: Adult

*Pluto is being fostered in Valrico.*

PlutoFL4Hi, my name is Pluto. My foster mom named me after the planet, because I’m small. I weigh about 17 lbs and am about 3 to 5 years old. Before I came to live with my foster mom, I was homeless. I was brought to a shelter, but nobody came looking for me. After a while, my time was up. I was very scared, but then my foster mom showed up to take me out of that scary place. I’m a very good boy. I never go potty in the house. I’m learning to sit and stay, but I have to stay on a leash whenever I go outside. I like to go exploring, but I might get lost if I wander off. I met a 12-year-old kid and I loved him! I’m good with dogs and I met cats and totally ignored them! What I really, really wanted for Christmas was a family of my own, but no luck so far! Can you help me have a fantastic new year in a new home? Yours truly, Pluto [P.S. See more pictures of me!]

ADOPTED!! Skeeter

Sex: Male  •   Located in: New Jersey   •   Age: Young

*ADOPTED!! Skeeter is being fostered in Berlin.*

SkeeterNJ3

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Getchell family!

Skeeter is a happy, energetic, spirited little guy who doesn’t seem to have any fears. He’s willing to engage anyone in play – from dogs his size to a 160 lb Great Dane. He loves toys of all kinds but especially loves chasing tennis balls – he’s an excellent catcher! He’s a big kisser, very affectionate and loves cuddling under blankets with you while watching TV or napping. He is crate-trained and house-trained, comes when you call his name and has recently learned to walk on a leash but he’s still easily distracted by squirrels. He will chase a cat if it runs, but if they stand their ground, he backs off. He’s very protective of his food so he’ll growl if other dogs look at him while he’s eating. Skeeter likes kids but he’s still a little nippy when grabbing toys or treats (still a little puppy behavior left in him). Skeeter is 18 months and weighs 20 pounds. He’d love to have a home for the holidays — maybe it’s yours? Make sure you see more pictures of Skeeter!

Tate

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Connecticut   •   Age: Adult

*Tate is being fostered in Waterbury.*

TateNY1Meet little man Tate! This adorable little guy is about 10 pounds and about 2 years old. He is very timid and skittish, but has progressed nicely in his foster home, playing with a couple of his foster brothers. He is still very nervous of fast movements and loud noises. Tate would blossom best in a quiet home without children and with patient human(s) who will give Tate time and space. He loves to sleep in bed, is very snuggly and doesn’t mind being close for petting and hugs. He will kiss your hand from time to time. He has been seen lifting his leg on several occasions, so we gird him up with a belly band to help avoid accidents. He uses a doggie door to do his business otherwise. This is a precious little soul that just yearns to let the ‘big dog’ come out of his little frame. A calm playmate would be good for Tate, but also being an only dog would allow for all the attention and love to be focused solely on him, which he deserves. Please only apply for this very special boy if you can give him the love and patience that he needs. He patiently awaits his special forever family.
