Ringo

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Montgomery family!

Meet Ringo!!!  He came to his foster mom in December of 2010, and she immediately saw a “Star” quality in him!  Ringo came from a shelter in Dallas after being hit by a car and dislocating his hip.  His recovery was fast.  He also tested positive for heart worms, but after his treatments, crate rest and lots of TLC he is excited about life and a new future with his furever family!  Ringo was a little hesitant about men in the beginning but he quickly warmed up when his foster mom took him to work with her several times and was doted on by everyone!  His confidence level has grown so much and he is eager to learn and please people.  He lives with 2 dogs and a cat.  He’s fine with the cat; just mostly curious, and tries to steal her food if he can reach it!  He also lives with a very friendly little chihuahua/terrier mix and that is his play buddy!  They go to day care together once a week and share the same space and they also love to romp in the dog park.  His foster sister is a 14 year old 30 lb terrier mix who has gotten grumpy in her older years but Ringo knows his limits with her and respects them.  He loves to take walks every day and does excellent on the leash.  Ringo is 3 years old, stands 11 inches high and weighs 13 lbs.  He has the most gorgeous markings with a very unique “V” shaped marking on his head!  He absolutely loves to “burrow” under ALL blankets either in his crate or the bed!!  Ringo’s new family will be the lucky ones, because they will get a loyal and loving companion, a wonderful snuggle buddy, and a dog that loves children and animals.  He’s a great little guy with a warm heart and a kind soul!  See more great pictures of Ringo!

ADOPTED!! Reba

reba

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Ancora family!

Reba is a wonderful, sweet, easy going 8 year-old female who somehow found herself homeless. She weighs 16 pounds and is about 11 inches tall. She was rescued from a shelter and now is happy in her foster home that she shares with 2 male Jack Russell Terriers. She gets along with other dogs, but prefers to be with people. She will not play or interact with other dogs, but is friendly when she meets them. She is very quiet, does not have any bad behaviors, is fully housebroken, and walks well on a leash (doesn’t pull, or lunge at people or dogs walking by). She will not run off when she is off-leash in the yard. She will just wander around, discovering new scents and always comes when she is called. She is friendly towards people, and will allow children to pet her, but will NOT tolerate children grabbing, poking or picking her up.. Since she is set in her ways she would do best in a home with adults. Reba goes for walks and also loves to ride in the car. She is allowed free range of the house, and sleeps on her little bed at night. She will not jump on the furniture unless invited up. She is a very well mannered, sweet girl who would make a great companion.  For more photos of Reba in her foster home, click here:

ADOPTED!! Jasmine

ADOPTED!
CongRATulations to the Sullivan family!

Hi everyone!  My name is Jasmine.  Sometimes my foster mom calls me Jazzie for short.  I am only a year old, so I have many years of face licking to give and so many belly rubs to receive.  I am 14 pounds and fit perfectly in your lap — not too big and not too small.  I am completely housebroken and alert my family when I need to go out by giving some quick barks.  I am otherwise very quiet and happy laying next to you.  I am also crate-trained, which means I know it is time for you to run your errands and time for me to take a nice nap in my crate.  I am a bit unsure of other dogs, they make a a little bit nervous. I would much rather be with my humans than with other dogs.  My foster family does not have any cats, whatever those are.  My foster family takes me out on walks and I do well on the leash.  I don’t pull or try to break free, I just walk happily next to them.  I love running in the big back yard because it gives me time to stretch out and take in the sun.  Sometimes the cows come out in the back pasture and I like to sniff the air.  My foster mom says I would do best in a home with children over the age of five, only because when I want you to pet me, I give LOVE NIBBLES. I enjoy laying down next to the little girls that live in my foster home.  They play dolls and bang on their instruments, and sometimes they read books to me and I enjoy it all.  I get to lay down in the bed with the human kids when they go to bed. I lay nice and quietly and help them get to sleep.  Once they are asleep, I go to sleep in my crate. My foster mommy doesn’t want me to get overly spoiled, but promised that one day I might get to sleep all night in a bed with someone.  I am a ‘Let’s sit under this big tree shade and watch the butterflies’ type of gal.  Because of this, I think that an all adult household would suit me just fine as well. Laying next to you on the couch as we take in a movie, sitting out back as you drink your coffee and I soak in the sun, curling up together after a long enjoyable day together… what could be better than that?  To see my photo album, click here:

ADOPTED!! Chachi

Posted Jun 24, 2011 at 10:47 am in Latest News

chachi

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Reeves family!

Chachi is a little black and white teddy-type rat terrier who we estimate to be about 4-5 years old. He weighs about 15 lbs., stands 12 inches tall, has erect ears and a mostly black head with brown eyes. He has a smooth coat and a tail that he wags with all of his heart and soul. Chachi is housetrained and will alert you with a little whine at the door when he has to potty. He is crate-trained and seems to regard the crate as his safe place when he gets sleepy or anxious (such as during big, bad thunderstorms). This smart boy has quickly picked up “sit” in the few days he’s been at this foster home and waits to be invited up on furniture before he makes himself comfortable. He is very affectionate with adult humans and loves quiet petting and snuggling. He is protective of his humans so he’ll growl a warning at other dogs trying to nudge him out of the prime spot next to you. Chachi would be okay being an only dog, but he does get along with his foster siblings most of the time. Outside he’s a little butt-wiggling ball of energy, interested in anything and everything. He’s a bird and squirrel tracker, he’ll bark fiercely at intruders in your yard, and trots along nicely on a leash. He may be short in stature but he can jump and climb with the best of them. He can easily scale a chain link fence if the mood strikes him to go off exploring. Chachi is tolerant of cats but not very tolerant of children – especially toddlers who might grab at him. So a home with no small children would be best. Enjoy some photos and video of Chachi in all of his handsome glory at this link.

ADOPTED!! Ghillie

GhillieTN3

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Heltzel family!

Please meet shy, silly Ghillie, a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix! Ghillie is approximately 2 years old and he’s all legs right now – 14″ tall and about 17 pounds. His foster mom is feeding him such oh-so-good kibble that he’s sure to gain a few more needed pounds. Ghillie is crate trained and is quiet all through the night. He is house trained and gets along with 6 other Ratties in his foster home. He LOVES to ride in cars, is easy to walk on a leash and enjoys meeting new people. His favorite place is in your lap – on his back and belly up in the air for all to see. He sleeps on the bed at night and stays until its time to get up. He has been cat-scanned – he showed interest but no aggression. He would do well with children but may be a bit timid in an extremely loud environment. Ghillie is a sweet boy who needs a loving home with an empty lap waiting just for him. Make sure you see more pictures of this cutie pie!

ADOPTED!! Bruno

Bruno

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Boyer family!

Bruno is a happy, healthy, little male rat terrier who was just one year old in March of 2011. He is inquisitive, friendly, and picks things up quickly, but still has quite a bit of puppy energy and excited playfulness. He’s old enough to calm down with gentle petting and fall asleep on your lap or next to you. Bruno has a soft, smooth coat, erect ears, brown eyes, a full 11-inch tail. He stands 13 inches tall at his shoulders and currently weighs about 14 lbs though he needs to gain a maybe 3-4 pounds to fill out his frame (we’re working on that). He quickly learned his new name and the SIT command. He is crate trained and quickly learning his housetraining.  He picked up how to use doggie doors right away and while a little excited on walks, he is learning to walk with his foster brothers and sister on a leash without straining. He is also learning not to jump up on people but still forgets once in a while. He is restless in the car when loose but does well in the crate or restrained in a doggie seatbelt. Bruno is friendly with everyone, including children, but still has a bit of puppy behavior,  so for now he wouldn’t be good playing with very small children. Bruno has been submissive with all four of his foster brothers and sisters, but loves to play so he tries to engage them with play bows and barking. He backs off submissively when other dogs get bossy with him. He doesn’t live with a cat in his foster home, but he does bark at outdoor neighbor cat like he wants them to play.  If you’d like to see more photos (and videos) of this handsome boy in his fosterhome, visit his album: http://imageevent.com/ratterrierresq/bruno

Cookie

Posted May 31, 2011 at 5:25 pm in Latest News

CookieCookie is a beautiful, well behaved, obedient, mature dog of about 7 to 8 years.  She’s about 13″ high at the shoulder, and weighs about 14 lbs.  She’s long-legged and delicate looking.  She’s got a twinkle in her eye and is still very active and lively.  Cookie loves to play with squeaky toys, and she loves to chase squirrels!  Cookie is well past her puppy years, so she’s not destructive, and not overly active.  She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, although she seems to prefer the company of her people.  She’s amazing with cats!  She never chases them, and only growls at them if they try to eat out of her bowl when she’s having dinner.  She’s fine with children, and isn’t afraid of a lot of activity around her.  She would probably be better in a home without small children.  She’s not a big kisser, but is very loyal and loving.  Her favorite thing to do is sit at the feet of her people while they are working, or sitting on a lap while watching TV.  She loves riding in the car – she’ll watch out the window until she gets bored, then settle down for a nap.  She gets lonely when her people are not around, so might be best in a home where someone is around most of the day.  She is housebroken and well-behaved, and just an all-around great companion, and would be a great RV traveler!  For more photos of Cookie in her foster home, click here:

ADOPTED!! Martini

martini

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Sestito family!

Meet ‘Tini’ Martini!  She’s a classic-looking little rat terrier lady; black and white with tan accents on her face.  She is a type “B”, with shorter legs.  At just about 11 lbs and 10″ tall, she lives up to the “Tini” nickname we have given her.  Martini was turned into a Brooklyn, NY shelter when her owners were unable to keep her due to a landlord dispute.  Tini was very friendly to everyone at the shelter, but didn’t know what was happening to her and she was unsure of the new surroundings and why she was there.  After a few days in her foster home, she is coming alive, wagging her (full) tail and showing her true personality!  She is estimated to be approximately 7 years old, but seems much younger.  Tini is getting along with the other foster dogs in the home and can be cat scanned upon request.  She is housebroken and is fine in the crate, too.  Tini is good with older children and was perfect when she recently met a 5 year-old girl.  She enjoys riding in the car or being carried around, and would much prefer your lap rather than the dog bed!  Martini walks well on leash, too!  This smart little girl listens well to basic commands like come, sit, go, lay down, and outside.  She loves a good belly rub and is very affectionate.  She is being fostered in Mastic Beach, NY and is enjoying all of suburbia, complete with squirrel chases in the backyard!  Do you have room in your home & heart for a ‘Tini’ sweetheart of a gal?  For photos of Martini in her foster home, click here:

ADOPTED!! Mimsy

Posted May 19, 2011 at 6:24 am in Latest News

Mimsy2

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Adams family!

Say hello to Mimsy.  She has had a rough life – living outdoors with no proper shelter, puppies freezing to death and lastly, heartworm treatment.  Despite all of this, she is a happy, bouncy and lovable little 2 year-old girl.  She is always wanting to play and tries her best to get the other older ratties in her foster home to play with her – therefore she would be happy with another playful pup as her companion.  When playtime is over, it’s up in her foster mom’s lap for snuggling.  She is 14 inches at the shoulder and weighs 16 pounds, so she’s perfectly-sized for a lap dog… She loves to play with her stuffies (stuffed animals) and chew on her nylabones.  She is a bit of a thief – she delights in stealing the socks out of your hands as you TRY to put them on your feet.  She dances on her back legs, swishes her tail from side to side and waves her front paws in the air when her foster mom comes in from work.  She is a bit timid about going outside alone to do her business and is happiest when the other ratties (or mom) go out with her.  She has had only 2 accidents since being with her current foster mom – she will go potty when outside but hasn’t learned how to let you know when she needs to go outside.  If kept on a regular schedule, she would do fine with housebreaking.  She has been cat scanned and showed only an interest to play.  Mimsy may be a bit “bouncy” for a small child but just perfect for 6 or 7 years old and above.  She is not hyper, just loves to play.  She would ideal for a lively house with kids and other pups as companions.  For photos and videos of Mimsy, click here:

ADOPTED!! Honey

Posted May 18, 2011 at 10:00 am in Latest News

HoneyAdopted!

CongRATulations to the Docherty family!

This sweet little girl named herself!  Not only is she the color of Honey, she is super affectionate.  Once you meet her, you will understand why the name “Honey” suits her!  Honey is a sweetheart of a rat terrier, about 2 years old, and is being fostered in Bristol, CT.  She weighs about 12 pounds, and is good with kids of all ages and other dogs. Honey loves to follow her people around and just be near them. She is crate trained and housebroken.  She would love to be in household that has someone home most of the time, because she adores being around people.  She will chase cats in the yard, but would probably adjust to sharing a house with a feline.  Honey’s favorite things are playing (for short periods of time) and snuggling.  She loves to play with toys and does like to take a shoe of her favorite person to bed with her, but she never damages anything. She is even gentle with her toys. She is used to sleeping in bed with her fosterparents and snuggles in for the night on top of the covers.  Honey is a type “B” rat terrier, with shorter legs.  All she lacks in life is a family of her own.  Could that family be yours?  Have a peek at more photos of Honey in her foster home by clicking here:
