Pippin2Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Hayes family!

This adorable little guy is named Pippin.  A short description of Pippin is:  a dog that loves everyone!  Pippin is between 1 and 2 years old, and weighs 12 pounds.  He is a type B Rat Terrier, with shorter legs.  His fur is super soft, and he is affectionate without being too clingy.  He likes men and women equally, and enjoys following his foster dad out to the shop, where he sits and observes.  He greets every visitor to his foster home with a tail wag, and thinks they are here to see him!  Pippin would probably be fine with children, especially older children who won’t chase him to pick him up.He is a bit mouthy and likes to play with hands, so smaller children would need to be supervised.  He is crate trained and is housebroken with a doggie door.  In fact, he loves to be outside exploring, even without his foster mom.  And did we mention he loves toys?  There’s really nothing negative we can say about this great little dog.  This little guy minds well, wants to please, and will wake you up with lots of “good morning” kisses if you adopt him.  For more photos of Pippin, click here:

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Wong-Ostapowicz family!

Do blondes have more fun?  Just ask Sulis, as he does a super sonic rat run chasing his sister Tara!  Sulis is a fun-loving, happy go-lucky, sweetheart of a pup that is currently about 12 weeks old.  He is tan and white, and has the shorty legs of a type B Rat Terrier.  He is such a sweet love bug and gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home.  He is learning his crate training, and doing great with housebreaking when taken out every four hours.  Sulis traveled to CT with his brother and sisters from Arkansas, and he is now loving life and having a big back yard to run around in!  (and chase his sister!)  He weighs about 5 pounds at this age, and is very people-oriented.  He is super affectionate.  In fact, this pup can’t hold his licker!  (lots of puppy kisses to give someone)  Do you need a buddy like Sulis?

CongRATulations to the Underhill family!

Craving a little chocolate?  We’d like you to meet Tara!  Tara is a sweet love bug who had a rough start in life after being abandoned, along with her brothers and sisters, in a small rural shelter in 100-degree heat.  Luckily,

ResQ was contacted immediately and, with the help of other rescue volunteers, got this little cutie and her siblings into a safe foster home.  She is a tiny little thing, only about 4 pounds, but she can give you 10 pounds of puppy kisses!  Now, who can resist a chocolate kiss?  She is enjoying life in her CT foster home, and especially likes having a yard to run around in.  She may be tiny, but she can chase her siblings and give them a smack down!   Tara is brimming with personality and charm, all she lacks is a family of her own.  If you think this darling little girl is the right fit for your family, please apply to adopt her!  A pup this adorable surely won’t be homeless long

ADOPTED!! Shady

Adopted!

 CongRATulations to the Fuller family!

Meet the newest rescue on Long Island, NY:  Mr. “Slim Shady”!  Shady, as we call him, is 4 months old and one really super smart pup!  He’s nearly housebroken with a doggie door or if you pay attention to his signs.  Shady listens well to basic commands (come, sit, stay) and even fetches!  You can see a video of him in action by clicking the link to his photo album. Shady is learning which toys are his and which items that might look good to play with, are really mommy’s shoes.  He sleeps well in his crate all night long, but will wake up ready to play and take on the day.  He plays well with his foster siblings, loves squeaky toys, balls to fetch and ropes to play tug o’ war with.  Once he’s played off some energy, Shady loves to lay next to you for naptime, or will spend some quiet time in his crate.  Shady has long legs and a full tail but his big ears are undecided as he currently has one floppy ear and one that stands up.  At only about 5 pounds now, he should be about 12-15 pounds when fully grown.  Like all puppies, he LOVES to eat and doesn’t like to share his bowl too much, but not overly so, and we will work on that.   Shady is a classic tri color, white and black with tan accents to show off his beautiful face.   Shady has deep, soulful, dark eyes that say “I just want to please you and be loved” or “are you ready to play?”  Shady’s big personality and intelligence makes for a great companion and possibly, could be a good candidate for agility training!  Are you looking for a puppy to add to your life?  If so, Shady could be the “perfect pup,” just like his foster mom says!  For Shady’s photo album, click here:

ADOPTED!! Xena

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Mansur family!

Xena was abandoned with her siblings at a rural, high-kill shelter in the South that had no formal adoption program.  ResQ was notified and stepped in to rescue the sweet pups and give them a chance at life.  Our volunteers sent the pups to the Northeast for fostering and to find furever homes, and Xena wound up on Long Island, New York.  Xena is approximately 12 weeks old and is just the sweetest thing!  She is a chocolate/lemon tri-color with a striking pattern on her face.  It’s like she’s wearing a mask!  And that’s how she got the name “Xena,” (the Princess Warrior)  although she doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body.  She gets along well with all of her foster siblings, and may only be 5 pounds, but she can handle the brute of the bunch in her foster home!  Everyone who meets her falls in love immediately.  She loves to play, as any puppy, but melts into your arms as soon as you hold her.  She has learned to sit for a treat and is working very had on housetraining.  She will sleep in her crate all night long, and willingly go into the crate for feeding time and nap time, but if she’s not tired, will complain for a few minutes before settling into the crate.  When fully grown, Xena should be about 12-15 lbs.  She is a type A Rat Terrier, with long legs and slender build.  If you are looking to open your heart and home to a puppy, please consider sweet Xena, a lot of love in a little package!  Xena will be available in just a few short weeks so get your application in so she can go home as soon as she is ready!

CongRATulations to the Hooter family!

Hi!  My name is Sanchez.  I am about 5-6 months old.  I don’t know for sure, because I can’t remember my birthday.  When I was really little, I got lost and ended up at a shelter.  It was really scary there.  Thankfully, rescue volunteers got me out of there.  I’m really happy in my foster home, but I would really like to have a family of my own.  I love to run and play, especially with other dogs. My foster mom says I annoy the other dogs, but I’m just persistent.  Eventually, they give in and play with me.  I love kids.  I’ve briefly met a few cats, but they won’t play with me, so I bark at them.  I sleep in my crate like a good boy, and I am housebroken.  I’m learning to walk nicely on a leash and to sit when asked, but it’s really hard, since I just want to run and play.  I’ll keep working on it, ‘specially if it helps me get my own family.  Do you have room for me at your house?  I only weigh about 8 lbs, and I promise I won’t grow much more.  Let me know, and I’ll pack my bags, or at least my leash. More Photos Click Here:

ADOPTED!! Max

Max

Adopted!!
CongRATulations to the Norris family!

Max is a sweet little boy.  He is about 3 years old and weighs about 20 lbs.  Max is fully housebroken and crate-trained.  He and his brother, Echo, were given up when their family had to move and were forced to leave their dogs behind.  Max is easy-going and will bark to alert you if someone comes to your door. That’s his job, after all!  And someone obviously worked with him, since he knows basic commands like, “sit”, “come”, etc.  He gets along with other dogs, and although we aren’t sure how he will do with cats, we can have him  ”cat-scanned” upon request.  He will sleep in his crate, but would much prefer to sleep in bed with you if you let him.  Could Max be the perfect addition to your family? For more pics of Max in his Florida fosterhome, Click Here

ADOPTED!!! Thumper

Thumper
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Torello family!
Thumper was such an amazing little guy that a shelter volunteer kept him safe in her home for about a week until ResQ could squeeze him in.  Was he worth it?  You bet!  Thumper loves everyone!  He loves men and women equally, and greets visitors with a wag of his little tail.   Thumper is housebroken and quiet, and doesn’t challenge any of the other dogs in his foster home.  He gets excited when he sees a black car drive by, so we think he must still be looking for his master to come get him.  Thumper follows his foster dad everywhere, and gets excited when he sees a leash, or thinks he might get to ride in the car.  Thumper had someone who loved him, and we may never know how he ended up on the euthanasia list at a shelter.    He is about 4 years old and weighs 16 pounds – just the perfect lap size!  Thumper is affectionate and minds well, and would do well in just about any home.  However, Thumper can easily scale a 4′ chain link fence, so that needs to be taken into consideration if you think you might like to adopt him and give him a permanent home.  View more Thumper pics. ADOPTED!! Charlie

Adopted!

CongRATulations to the Daniels family!

Hello, I’m Charlie!  Charlie was born in the animal shelter in Lufkin, Texas, and didn’t know until he was almost 4 months old that there was a big old world out there to run and play in.  His mom is a Rat Terrier but his daddy was most likely a long-coated Jack Russell Terrier.  He is kind of a fuzzy Rat Terrier with a little fuzzy beard, and he weighs about 18 pounds.  Charlie is now about a year old.   Charlie is really cute, and boy-oh-boy, is he smart!  He learned to sit after only 2 treats, and has almost perfected “down” and “shake.”  Like any puppy, Charlie is happy and playful, and loves everyone.  Charlie is crate trained and housebroken, but he doesn’t really like being crated that much.  Playing tug of war is one of his favorites, and squeaky toys are just the bomb!  He rides wonderfully in a car, does well on a leash, and hasn’t met anyone he doesn’t like.  He would be wonderful for a family with kids to play with, and toss a ball for him to retrieve.  He gets along with all the dogs in his foster home, especially if they like to play!   If you are looking for a boy that runs, jumps, plays and cuddles, look no further!  You need a happy guy like Charlie in your life to make you smile and laugh.  And he needs a home, so you are the perfect match!  For photos of this cute boy in his foster home, check his photo album often:

ADOPTED!! Tiny Tina

Posted Aug 27, 2011 at 6:54 am in Latest News

Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Myers family!

Everything in Texas isn’t big!  This tiny little girl is named Tina!  She came from a shelter in TX when her time ran out and her family didn’t come to get her.  She is only about 6 pounds, and a year old.  She is crate trained, but much prefers to sleep in a soft dog bed.  In her foster home she sleeps on a pillow on top of her crate!  She is quite the jumper.  Tina is super affectionate and loves all humans, men and women alike.  She greets all visitors with a butt-wiggle and makes friends easily.  Because she is so small, we think she would do best in a home with children older than 6 or 7.  We think she must have been an only dog, but she’s learning to play with the other dogs in her foster home.  However, she is extremely possessive of rawhide chewies, and will cause a huge ruckus if another dog gets too close to her prized possession.  But people can take a chewie away from her, and she doesn’t object at all, she rolls over on her back.  She is only possessive with other dogs.  Once the chewies have been put away, she is a perfect angel with the other dogs.  She is fed in her crate, so the other dogs won’t bother her while she eats.  Tina is housebroken with a doggie door, and will go to the back door to be let outside if the doggie door is not available.  She loves to retrieve toys and small balls that are thrown, and is eager to please her people.  We think that because she is so small, she makes up for it with plenty of “rattitude.”  If you are looking for a spunky little girl who will give you years of companionship, maybe Tiny Tina is the girl for you!  To see photos of Tina in her foster home, click here:
