Tate2008-07-27 |
Location: New York Meet little man Tate! This adorable little guy is about 10 pounds and about 2 years old. He is very timid and skittish, but has progressed nicely in his fosterhome, beginning to play with a couple of his foster brothers. He is still very nervous of fast movements and loud noises. Tate would blossom best in a quiet home without children and with patient human(s) who will give Tate time and space. He loves to sleep in bed, is very snuggly and doesn't mind being close for petting and hugs. He will kiss your hand from time to time. He has been seen lifting his leg on several occasions, so we gird him up with a belly band to help avoid accidents. He uses a doggie door to do his business otherwise. This is a precious little soul that just yearns to let the "big dog" come out of his little frame. A calm playmate would be good for Tate, but also being an only dog would allow for all the attention and love to be focused solely on him, which he deserves. Please only apply for this very special boy if you can give him the love and patience that he needs. He patiently awaits his special forever family.

Chico2008-07-27 |
Location: Arkansas *Chico is being fostered in Arkadelphia.* Hey there, Chico! Chico is a handsome little guy, about 12 pounds, who was rescued from a backyard breeder situation in South Texas. He is very shy in new situations, but once he trusts you, he is a true lap dog. Chico is very smart and is housebroken with a doggie door, as well as crate trained. Chico is young, probably 2 years or less. It is important that any prospective adopter know that Chico tends to bond to one person, and would probably not be a good choice for an active family dog. He has recently started to interact with other people more, after intense socialization efforts by his foster family. He has come a long way, but still needs to learn a few things. He needs to be trained to walk on a leash, and not to bark at visitors, but he's trying hard to be good! Chico must have a home and family that understands unsocialized dogs and has patience to help him trust humans again. He will reward you with unlimited dog kisses and a warm lap. Check in on Chico and the Rockport 9 often!

Rian2008-08-24 |
Location: Wisconsin *Rian is being fostered in Green Bay.* Rian (pronounced Ryan) means "Little King" in Irish and he's hoping someone will make him the Little King of their castle. Rian was one of the Rockport 9, seized from a backyard puppy mill. He likely lived all of his 3-5 years in a feces-filled cage so he is working hard on house training and really just wants to sit with you and be close to you. He is a snuggler. Initially, all he did was non-stop circling behavior but that is getting better as he learns to adjust to living in a home vs. a cage. He rarely barks, but when he does, it sounds like a very large dog and not this 7-8 pound dog. He is crate trained and goes right in at night. Because he is so tiny, with very long, thin legs and still a bit nervous, he would do best in a home with older children. Since Rian is going through heartworm treatment, he won't be available for adoption until the end of September. See more pictures of Rian!

Bandit2008-10-01 |
Location: Idaho *Bandit is being fostered in Boise.* Bandit is a 4 year old male, weighing 11 pounds. He is very muscular, playful and loves tennis balls (chases them, eats them and sleeps with one). He really enjoys all toys and would love to learn tricks. He has that "circus dog" look and likes to walk on his back legs for treats. He does well off leash though he is afraid of moving vehicles and will run from them. He likes to ride in the car, just doesn't like them to move when he is not in them. He gets along with dogs but would be just as happy as an only dog. He sleeps in a crate but loves to come cuddle in bed in the morning; overall, he would rather you play with him than cuddle. We call him Little Man (lots of personality in a small package). He really is a kick and would be a great dog for a single person or a couple that wanted to include him in their daily lives. He has come along way in fostercare, getting more and more confident. He would not be suitable for a family with small children. His fostermom can't say enough about what a fun and entertaining dog Bandit is. Wouldn’t you like to see more pictures of Bandit?

Odie2008-10-06 |
Location: California *Odie is being fostered in Fairfield.* Meet Odie! He is a purebred Rat Terrier. Odie is almost 3 years old and 14 pounds of goofiness. Odie is a quick learner -- when he arrived at his foster home, it only took him about 20 min to learn all about the doggie door, and he has not had any accidents in the house. Odie walks well on a leash and loves to go for car rides. Odie sleeps in a crate at night. When Odie gets to know you, he is very trusting of his people and one of the biggest snugglers. He does sit on command and takes treats very gently. Odie would LOVE to have a 4-legged brother or sister to play with. He gets along with all dogs and cats. Odie should be with children 12 and over, and should be in a home that understands potential alpha behavior. He has been a joy to have in his foster home but he would love to find his forever family.
