Dogs who are Young (6 mos - 2 years)

Tom Tom

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Texas   •   Age: Young

*Tom Tom is being fostered in Austin, TX.*

Let us introduce you to…. TomToml! (aka Tommy) Approximately, 1 1/2 yrs old, 15 lbs and 14” tall at the shoulder. TomTom has a full tail and button ears. He is a sweet, loving, smart and handsome young man who loves to play with his foster siblings and chew on bones. TomTom transitioned into his foster family very easily and is “getting schooled” in the ways of dog etiquette by his older foster siblings. He takes the corrections well and shows the proper respect. His favorite place to be is next to his human companion, his favorite position to sleep is on his back. TomTom was picked up as a stray in Austin, Texas. The wonderful folks at the Austin Animal Center noticed he had a limp and investigated. X-rays revealed that his right rear hip was in an abnormal position. They feel he was probably hit by a car and did not get the proper attention. The animal center made sure TomTom had surgery to help alleviate the pain and physical therapy to get him back on all fours. Now that TomTom is in a foster home, he continues to go to physical therapy twice a week and works with his foster mom daily to get the strength back in that leg. TomTom’s physical therapist is pleased with his progress but warns that he will probably always have a bit of a limp. TomTom does not let that slow him down at all! He loves to tear around the back yard either chasing or being chased by “Archie” his Yorkie foster brother. Tommy and Archie play tug and fetch together, eat out of the same bowl, and fuss at each other like true brothers. TomTom is crate trained, house trained and does well in a car. We are working on walking nicely on a leash without pulling. He takes treats very gently and will run and get in his crate at the sound of the treat bag. After a long hard day of play, he settles down and sleeps quietly in his crate all night. TomTom is full of young terrier energy and would love an active family to play and snuggle with. TomTom is UTD on all shots, neutered and on heartworm prevention. Apply to adopt him today and he’ll pack up his toys to come home. Buddy Ruff

Sex: Male  •   Located in: Arkansas   •   Age: Young

*Buddy Ruff is being fostered in Arkadelphia, AR.*

Buddy Ruff had a “ruff” start in life. He lived way out in the country as an outside dog. His owner passed away and he was left to fend for himself. Some kind-hearted, concerned neighbors would give him table scraps every day to make sure he was fed. He would not stay at the neighbor’s house, he would always go back to his master’s home and sit on the porch, as if waiting for him to come home. Our foster dad in Cape Girardeau heard of his plight and drove out to fetch him and bring him home. This is a really, really nice dog. He is super sweet, very playful, and has mixed in with the dogs in his foster home from the very start. He is obedient and loyal, and his little natural bob tail wags all the time! Buddy seems very happy to be indoors where it’s warm, and where there is plenty of food. Buddy Ruff is a bit timid with new people, but warms up very quickly. We have not tested him with cats or small children yet. Buddy seems to be very smart, and learned the doggie door right away. Buddy gets really excited about retrieving a tennis ball, and he will place it back in your hand to throw again! His favorite treat is wintergreen lifesavers. (go figure!) He is housebroken with a doggie door, and loves to be outside. A fenced-in backyard would be a big hit in his new home. We think Buddy is about 1 to 2 years old, and weighs about 15 pounds. He is obviously a mix, but we couldn’t leave this sweet soul to fend for himself, especially with winter closing in quickly. Buddy prefers to not sleep in a bed, but in a dog bed on the floor. He walks well on a leash, and is eager to please. All this devoted little guy needs is someone to love him back. If you would like to give Buddy a home, (and maybe a wintergreen lifesaver?) please fill out an application? For photos of this cute guy in his foster home, click here:

Presley

Sex: Female  •   Located in: North Carolina   •   Age: Young

*Presley is being fostered in Winston-Salem, NC.*

Presley is a very sweet tail-wagging little girl who loves to play with all the the kids and adults in the house. She prefers to be around other dogs her size, but has adjusted to her foster families golden retriever. Presley is 20 lbs and is estimated to be 2-3 years old. Presley is part Rat Terrier and part Parson Russell Terrier. She was dumped at a kill shelter along with her puppies. Her pups were adopted out and she was left all alone at the shelter. ResQ stepped in and saved her from being euthanized. Presley would love an active home with a family that can provide lots of quality time together. A fenced-in yard would be a great bonus, as she loves to run off that amazing level of energy. She enjoys lap time when she winds down and really appreciates a great back scratch too. Presley will make a forever loyal companion for her adoptive family. Her number one goal is to spend time with her human family as she loves attention and wants nothing more than to please her owner. She would do best with children that are 5 years and older who know how to play with active dogs. Presley is house trained and can sleep through the night in her crate, but sometimes sneaks in bed with her foster parents. For photos of Presley in her foster home, click here:
