Liv - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! Good things come in small packages! Liv is a tiny 18-month-old Rat Terrier girl, weighing in at just five pounds. She is crate-trained, leash-trained, and 95% housebroken. Liv gets along great with other dogs and loves to play with everyone she meets! She hasn’t had much interaction with cats but was eager to playfully chase after one that ran from her recently. Liv has proven to be the sneakiest of food thieves and will devour any morsel left unattended on a table or otherwise within her reach or accessible by a chair.
Liv’s svelte frame and lightning-fast speed allow her the ability to slip out of an open door with ease. Extra precautions to prevent escape must be taken, such as holding her in your arms when an outdoor access door is opened or crating her when social guests or young children are present. For potential adoptive families with children, we recommend homes with kids over age six due to her very small size. Little Liv demands lots of attention and affection! If you are relaxing on the sofa or chair, she is not happy unless she is in your lap or perched on your shoulder like a miniature parrot. She is an intelligent girl who would benefit from a basic obedience class and recall training. Liv is an energetic, affectionate, hilarious little dog who is eager to please. Twiggy - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! Twiggy is an approximately one-year old female rat terrier and is a precious, precocious pup! She was an owner surrender at the shelter, and had recently had puppies. You would never know she had anything but love in her life because she overflows with happiness and a desire to learn and please. She has been in her foster home around two weeks and has quickly picked up on things from her big foster sister such as - high five, a set bed time and hugs. She also loves snuggling and cuddles in bed. She sleeps under the covers at the bottom of the bed during the night but takes every opportunity to nap all wrapped up like a baby near your heart as well. Twiggy loves learning and gets very excited when she’s done something good. She gets along well with other dogs but doesn’t always “get it” when they don’t want to play. However, she listens and it doesn’t take more then once or twice for her to learn. She is just starting to work on housebreaking and has an excellent track record when on a schedule. Any mistakes she’s made in the house has been on a piddle pad. She just needs work on telling someone she needs to go out. She has separation anxiety that we’re working on but will take some time in her new home to get situated. She is attached to her foster mom but after a few minutes she will play with another adult. She would do best with someone home most of the time at least until she gets over her separation anxiety and is fully housebroken. We are still working on adding some weight to her tiny frame, but the name “Twiggy”came from her supermodel long legs as well as her lean body. She loves toys and runs around playing tug of war, throws her toys and catches them by leaping feet in the air. She will need a good fence as she can jump straight up in the air 4-5 feet and has also done some climbing. She’s never tried to escape but she has the capability! Leaping and running, with the quick learning, would also make her a fantastic candidate for agility. We feel confident she would be fine with children over the age of five, and you will never meet a sweeter dog ready for her forever home. SuzieQ - ADOPTED!!
Stella - ADOPTED!
ADOPTED!! Meet Stella! This sweet girl weighs only 8 pounds, and is a whirling dervish of face-licking, playful fun! She is only about a year old, and has already had to go through heart worm treatment because she wasn’t kept on preventative. She is doing wonderfully, and should be ready for her new home about the end of October - just in time for rolling in your piles of freshly-raked leaves. Stella is always happy and always playful, but a bit shy with people she just met until she checks you out. Currently she sleeps at night in a big crate with her foster sister, Lulu. And those two girls chase and play all day long. She will curl up in your lap to watch TV, but only after she gives you some kissies on the face. She is definitely an affectionate girl! We are pretty confident she would be fine with children. Stella is housebroken with a doggie door, and when kept on a routine. If it’s raining she needs to be coaxed a little more, but she is a good girl. If you would like to give this little bit of a girl a home, please fill out an application. Conway - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! Conway came from Conway, Arkansas, and the name just seemed to fit him. He has a crooked little smile, and weighs 11 pounds. Our vets think he is about 5 years old. He is housebroken and crate trained, and super sweet. He learned his name the first day in his foster home, and comes a’running when you call him. We suspect he is half dachshund because he has a long, lean body and short little legs. Conway pines away when he hears the neighbor children playing, and he wants badly to go to them, so we think he probably had children in his former home. He certainly has the temperament to get along well with children. The shelter volunteers worked very hard to get him safe when his time ran out and nobody came looking for him. Conway is very quiet and doesn’t bark much at all. He is content to be with his family and curl up next to you on the sofa. He will put himself to bed in his crate about 9 p.m. and sleep in it all night with the door open. He rides very well in the car, and gets excited when he sees his harness and leash come out. Someone loved him, and it’s hard to believe that nobody came looking for him when he was picked up. For more photos of this darling boy, check his album:

Lulu - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! We’d like to introduce Lulu! Lulu came into rescue from a small town shelter when her time ran out. It’s surprising that nobody adopted this sweet girl, and they sure missed out on a great dog. Her foster mom reports that she can’t find one single thing to correct with this sweetheart. She is housebroken and crate trained, and seems to love everyone she meets. Lulu is young and active, and loves to do rat runs in the backyard of her foster home. A fenced-in yard is a requirement for this girl, since she does need to expend some energy during the day. But at night she puts herself to bed in her crate, and sleeps peacefully until morning. She is quiet and doesn’t seem to bark much at all. Lulu has unusual front paws, only three of her toes touch the ground. But it sure doesn’t slow her down one bit. We think Lulu would be fine with older children, but she might be too active and playful for kids under 5. Lulu weighs about 14 pounds, and is the perfect size for a lap. She rides well in the car, and we are working on leash training with a harness. She has shorter legs, so she might be classified as a type “B” Rat Terrier. Noble - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! Noble was about to make his way to the adoption floor in a NC shelter, but his heart worm test came back positive. So there he patiently waited, only available for a rescue group to pull him. The email pleas were sent out. Luckily a foster home nearby was open and Rat Terrier ResQ swooped in and pulled him out of the shelter two days before he was to be euthanized. His story is a mystery. Brought in as a stray, no one claimed him at the shelter while he was there for almost 3 months. Our guess is that he was originally from a breeder because his tail is docked and he is a full blooded Rat Terrier. Noble is true to his name. He sits very handsome, proud and tall with his front paws crossed. He is grateful to be in a loving foster home while he is going through heart worm treatment. Noble will be available for adoption when he is fully recovered and his blood work comes back heart worm negative sometime near mid August. Noble gets along well with children and the other dogs in the house. He likes everyone he meets, first greeting you with a bark and then an excited wiggly wag. Noble is house trained and loves to play with his squeaky toys. He is estimated to be 3 to 4 years old and weights approximately 11 lbs. He is great walking on a leash and enjoys his outdoor time. He is crated at night, but would prefer to sleep in a human bed. Noble is a great lap dog and likes to cuddle up on the sofa and watch TV with his foster family. Finneus - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! This happy-go-lucky boy with the great attitude is named Finneus. His foster dad calls him “Finn” for short. Finneus is about a year old, maybe a bit younger. He is the perfect lap size, at about 10 pounds. Finn walks well on a leash, and loves to go for fun car rides. Finneus is having fun in his foster home with all the other dogs, and gets along well with all of them. He is good with older children and adults, and loves the human boy in his foster home, but he has not been tested with very young children yet. We are not sure how he would be with cats. His favorite pastime, now that he is safe from that shelter in North Arkansas, is to snuggle in the recliner with his foster dad and watch TV. He thinks sleeping in the big bed with his dad at night is the bomb, and is quick to burrow under the covers and snooze. Finn is not destructive in the house when left alone, and learned the doggie door the first day he arrived. A fenced back yard for this playful boy would be a huge plus, since he does like to chase a ball! (although he hasn’t learned to return it yet) Finneus is ready to find his new family, is it yours? Josie - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! This little girl is named Josie! She is 3 and a half pounds of puppy fun. Josie is approximately 8 or 9 weeks, and is very brave and self-confident. She plays with all the other dogs in her foster home, and loves visitors. However, she does not think that a little girl as cute as she is should be crated, and will let you know! As a result, little diva Josie sleeps wherever she wants to - usually in her foster mom’s bed. Josie is trying hard to be a good girl and use the piddle pads, or the grass when she is outside playing, but whoever adopts her will need to continue with her house training. She’s just a baby, after all! Josie was owner-surrendered as a rat terrier pup, but we suspect she is at least half chihuahua, due to her tiny size. However, this little girl is full of “rattitude!” Josie will need to be spayed and have her second set of shots before she can go to her new home. Her new family will need to follow through with her third set of shots if she is adopted before she is completely vaccinated. We estimate that she *could* go home about the first or second week in July, if her new family finds her by then. For adorable photos of this sweetie in her foster home, check her album:

Brayda is a beautiful brindle and white girl who found herself in a shelter in Arkansas through no fault of her own. She is about 2 to 3 years old, and weighs about 18 pounds.... [
