Sierra
Sierra is being fostered in Lewisville, TX. We’d like to introduce Sierra! Sierra is a beautiful chocolate tri-color rat terrier who is estimated to be about a year and a half old, and weighs just 11 pounds. Sierra is trained to use a doggie door to go outside and potty, and her foster mom reports that she is very active and playful, and loves to play fetch! She also likes to play tug-of-war with rope toys, and gets along great with the other two dogs in her foster home. We don’t know how she is around cats, or young children. She needs a little polishing when it comes to leash skills, and we are working on that. This little girlee loves attention, and her favorite snacks are carrots, green beans and watermelon (just like a true Southern lady!) For more photos of Sierra, click on her album:

Willow - ADOPTED!!
Brayda
Brayda is a beautiful brindle and white girl who found herself in a shelter through no fault of her own. She is about 2 to 3 years old, and weighs about 18 pounds. She is an excellent watch dog, and will look for signs from you when a stranger enters the home. Once told it’s okay, she will wag her tail to meet them. She is crate trained and is housebroken with a doggie door. If allowed, she loves to sleep at the foot of her foster dad’s bed or in a dog bed on the floor. She is a busy girl, always checking out the back yard for pesky squirrels and other invaders! Brayda loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home, and especially loves to play chase in the back yard. She loves being outdoors! Because she is active and loves being outside, we would prefer that her permanent home have a fenced back yard to keep her safe. She is attentive without being needy, and doesn’t demand to be in your lap all the time. Brayda would be a fantastic addition to an active family, and would not do well in a home that expected a couch potato dog. Brayda plays hard, so very small children would probably not be advised, we would be afraid she would accidently knock them over in her exuberance. But if you like walking, jogging, or just watching her harass the squirrels in your back yard, this is the dog for you! She loves to fetch a ball, but she will make you work to get it back. Magic Mike - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! Alright, Alright, Alright! This handsome guy is named Magic Mike. Mike is a year old, maybe a bit younger. Mike is about 15 pounds of playful, affectionate puppy. He loves to run and play with the other young dogs in his foster home, and adores all the doggie toys. He hasn’t shown a bit of aggression since he came into rescue, but we feel that his tendency to “paw” at arms and legs might not be good around very young children. We are working on this behavior, but he gets so excited to see you that he paws at legs and arms. We feel sure he would be a great companion for older children. He is affectionate and always ready to play, and comes a’running when you call his name. Mike is completely housebroken with a doggie door, and has never had an accident in his foster home. Mike is very smart and eager to learn. He rides well in the car, but doesn’t really like being crated at night, he prefers to sleep in the big queen-size bed with his family. A fenced-in backyard would be a huge plus for an adoptive home, since this boy does 90 mile-an-hour zoomies in the backyard, trying to get the other dogs to chase him. We haven’t tested him around cats yet, but we suspect he would see them as big fluffy toys. For more photos of Magic Mike in his foster home, check his album often for updates:
Emma - ADOPTED!!
Lady Bug - ADOPTED!!
Lady Bug ended up in a shelter after her elderly owner passed away. From what we know, she was not exposed to many people outside of her owner’s home. Understandably, Lady Bug takes a little extra time getting to know you. But she soon warms up and is ready to cuddle up in the easy chair. Lady Bug is crate-trained, housebroken, and walks great on a leash. She LOVES to wear her pretty harness! She also enjoys riding in the car and likes to play with other dogs. She barks at cats through the window but once she meets one, she mostly ignores them. She has learned “Sit” and would likely excel if enrolled in a basic obedience class, as she is eager to please. She will do best in a home with a patient family who is willing to help her build trust and confidence as she continues to come out of her shell. She is about 3 years old and weighs just 12 pounds. It is important for her adoptive home to have a securely fenced yard to keep her safe. She has never been around children, so we recommend no kids under 5. Her foster family would like for Lady Bug to be placed close to central Arkansas, so they can help her and the new family adjust to a change in environment. Maizie Grace - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! Meet Maizie, a delightful Rat Terrier! We don’t know much about how or why Maizie was found roaming on her own and brought into the Cabot shelter in Arkansas. She weighed only 4 and a half pounds! Luckily, they contacted ResQ right away. She flew from Arkansas to Chicago as the perfect cabin passenger, quiet for the entire flight, no motion sickness, and she is wonderful in the car. Maizie has not met a face she does not love to kiss! She does well with other dogs, and has a great time with the four other dogs in her foster home. (Rumor has it that she has her foster dad wrapped around her little paw.) We have not had a chance to see how she responds to cats or small children, but her foster family will have an update shortly after this weekend, when Maizie will be representing Rat Terrier ResQ at the pet Expo in Green Bay, WI. She is a quick study, and is crate trained, although she would rather be cuddled up next to you). Due to her inquisitive nature, Maizie would probably do best with a fenced yard, because she is so tiny that any areas that are open to escape would have to be closed off. Maizie is 100% puppy and loves to play, but she will not miss the chance to sit on a lap and rest as long as her person likes. At about 14 or 15 weeks, she now weighs 7 pounds. Jilly - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! Say hello to Jilly! Jilly is a young girl, probably only a year old, maybe less. She is a standard, weighing 19 pounds. She is very beautiful, as you can see! Jilly doesn’t like being crated, but we are working on that. So far, she is doing fine with her house training, and seems to get along with all the other dogs in her foster home. She adjusted quite rapidly to having six other dogs in her home. Jilly needs some work with a leash, and she is working hard to learn the rules of the house. She loves toys, and especially chewies! She thinks chewies are the greatest thing ever! Jilly would probably not be good for very young children, because she is still very much a puppy who likes to play with your hands, and is a bit awkward at times. But she would be a wonderful companion for older kids. Since she is a young, active dog, a fenced back yard would probably be best. She has a lot of energy, and running in the back yard seems to be her favorite thing to do. For photos of this beautiful girl, click her album:
Trixie - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! Trixie is being fostered in Lebanon CT. Her foster mom reports that she has been her best behaved foster yet. She just wants to be wherever you are and to please her owner. We think she’d be a great first dog, or a great dog for anyone who wants a well-behaved companion. She has never had an accident in her foster home and is crate trained. She’s even good with cats! She loves to go on her daily walks and is very obedient. She comes running when called and loves to run and play with other dogs. We estimate her age at between one and two years old. She has cute button ears. She will bark at strange people who enter the home, but will stop when she realizes they are not intruders, but visitors. She seems to prefer women to men. She is fine with older children but young children who are somewhat noisy might frighten her. She would make a wonderful companion and deserves a wonderful family. She is a bit camera-shy, so getting really good photos of her has proven to be a challenge! For more photos of this sweet girl, check her album:
Buddy Ruff - ADOPTED!!
ADOPTED!! Buddy Ruff had a “ruff” start in life. He lived way out in the country as an outside dog. His owner passed away and he was left to fend for himself. Some kind-hearted, concerned neighbors would give him table scraps every day to make sure he was fed. He would not stay at the neighbor’s house, he would always go back to his master’s home and sit on the porch, as if waiting for him to come home. Our foster dad in Cape Girardeau heard of his plight and drove out to fetch him and bring him home. This is a really, really nice dog. He is super sweet, very playful, and has mixed in with the dogs in his foster home from the very start. He is obedient and loyal, and his little natural bob tail wags all the time! Buddy seems very happy to be indoors where it’s warm, and where there is plenty of food. Buddy Ruff is a bit timid with new people, but warms up very quickly. We have not tested him with cats or small children yet. Buddy seems to be very smart, and learned the doggie door right away. Buddy gets really excited about retrieving a tennis ball, and he will place it back in your hand to throw again! His favorite treat is wintergreen lifesavers. (go figure!) He is housebroken with a doggie door, and loves to be outside. A fenced-in backyard would be a big hit in his new home. We think Buddy is about 1 to 2 years old, and weighs about 20 pounds. He is obviously a mix, but we couldn’t leave this sweet soul to fend for himself, especially with winter closing in quickly. Buddy prefers to not sleep in a bed, but in a dog bed on the floor. He walks well on a leash, and is eager to please. All this devoted little guy needs is someone to love him back.
