CongRATulations to the Burke family!
Nikki was a big surprise to her fostermom because of both her size and how quickly she fell in love with her! Nikki is a standard rat terrrier, at 22lbs, and is the largest Rat Terrier her fostermom has ever seen, although the standard-size dogs are common throughout the South and on the West Coast. She came into ResQ along with a tiny toy rattie, so the size difference was amazing. But like most standards, she is very loving and sweet, and wrapped her fostermom around her little paw. She was a perfect back seat driver the long drive home. Nikki is well trained, and is a good listener, obeys commands and plays fetch and gives paw! Nikki is housebroken and would love nothing but to be by your side, whatever you might be doing! She knows which toys are her toys and only needs to be told once when she does something unacceptable. Nikki is perfect on a leash. She managed to escape her escape- proof kennel to try to be with her foster family, but she did stay in the stockade fence yard until they returned. Good Girl! Darla is 1 to 2 years old, and was picked up as a stray in central Arkansas. She was picked up with a Yorkie, who was quickly adopted, but nobody came for Darla. Darla is an athelete, very strong and solidly built. She loves to run, chase and retrieve tennis balls, play tug-of-war, and play, play, play. She and her foster brother Thumper are best pals, and can play all day! They do supersonic rat runs in the backyard, and nobody can beat her to a tennis ball! Darla is housebroken with a doggie door, and loves to run for the sheer joy of running. She weighs about 16 pounds, and is solidly built. Darla is probably fine with older children, especially if they will throw a tennis ball for her, and the perfect home for her would have a fenced backyard or some other way to burn off energy. She is loving and loves to sit in laps, and will sleep in her own doggie bed, a crate, or wherever you want her to sleep. Darla is an active dog for an active family, but she also knows how to chill out and watch an old movie in your lap. For more photos of Darla in action,Click Here
**RIP**Gracie
Sweet Gracie had a very difficult start in life. She is part Rat Terrier and part Bull Terrier, and suffered from undiagnosed OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). Gracie is a 12-pound, 14 month-old bundle of energy with a tail that wags non-stop. Gracie loves everyone she meets and gets along with all the dogs in her foster home. She sleeps willingly in a crate at night, but likes to sleep on the bed. She is learning basic manners, and perfecting her housebreaking. A quieter home is best for her, as too much activity can over-stimulate her. You will not meet a more sweet and good-natured dog. Gracie rarely barks unless she sees a dog in the yard; she never barks in the house. She has a real zest for life and would love someone who walks or runs withher. Her favorite things are squeaky toys, and she loves having you play with her. Sorry, but applicants without a fenced yard will not be considered for this girl. Please see more pics of this girlie! ADOPTED!! Mack
Adopted! When Mack’s family In Arkansas moved away and left him behind, luckily it was outdoors where the neighbors could feed and water him to keep him from starving. When it was obvious that the family was gone for good, animal control came to pick up Mack and discovered that the dog left inside the house was dead. So Mack is a lucky boy. He is about 15 pounds, and very solidly built. His fostermom said “He’s built like a Mack truck!” and that’s how he got his name. He is very docile and laid back, and not at all hyper or clingy. Mack is friendly and seems to like everyone. He gets along with all the dogs in his fosterhome, and we think he would be fine with kids, due to his gentle temperament. Mack is a champion chipmunk chaser! He is crate trained and housebroken with a doggie door. Mack is now on the hunt for his forever home! He may be short in stature, but his heart is big, and this little cutie would do well in just about any family or home environment. Adopted!! Yogi
Yogi is a sweet, laid back, handsome 2 year old male rat terrier. He was rescued from a kill shelter and now has a great foster home in Tampa FL. Yogi loves being around people and especially loves to be with children. He loves the attention he gets from them, and would do very well in a home with children to play with. Yogi likes other dogs and is very friendly with them, but is very cautious about interacting. He becomes afraid if other dogs play rough. He will chase his foster brothers around the house, but if they growl or bark he runs away. Yogi likes being outside, and going for walks is his favorite thing to do! His perfect home would have a backyard for him to run and play in. He knows how to walk quietly on a leash and will not lunge at or bark at dogs or people walking by. He knows how to sit, stay and lie down, because he is smart! He is not a barker. Yogi is fully housebroken and is not destructive in the house. He does not have any behvavorial issues at all. He is just a very quiet, loving dog who needs a new home. Could that home be yours?

Adopted!! This adorable little guy is named Spencer! Spencer is about a year old, and just as cute as they come. He is a type B rat terrier with shorter legs, and he weighs 12 pounds. Spencer is an active puppy who loves to play, play, play, but then he’s ready for a cuddle and kiss. Spencer is very willing to please, and is okay with dog-savvy cats. He loves to play tug-of-war with his 30-pound foster brother, and fully expects to win! He’s doing well with his housetraining, and is not a problem barker. He usually only barks when someone comes to the door, to let you know. Spencer would love a home where he could play fetch with a tennis ball (his favorite game!) and a home with kids would be a plus! ADOPTED!! Alvin
CongRATulations to the Box family!
Alvin is a such a handsome boy! At less than a year old, he’s near fully grown at approx. 14” tall from floor to shoulder and about 14 pounds, and has a full tail. He is a classic tri-color with a dashing white blaze. He also has plenty of the famous rat terrier ticking! He’s fully crate trained, quickly learning house manners, and sleeps in the crate with his foster sister without a peep all night. At nap time, he will snuggle into the crate next to his foster sister, Alice, or if he can find a patch of lap, will cuddle up beside you. He seems very content to lay in your lap watching TV, and will soon nod off. Alvin was brought to a shelter in Arkansas as a stray back in August and touched more than a few hearts to make it to his far-away New York foster home in November. Always friendly and loving, he is adjusting well to his new home and many furry and human family members. Alvin is playful and loves to burn energy with squirrel chases in the back yard with his furry siblings. He is very much enjoying his freedom to roam a bit and learning that he is loved and a part of a family again. With his human family, squeaky and stuffed toys mean lots of fun! He’s smart and quickly learning that slippers are NOT toys and that his toys that are kept in a basket. Alvin tends to take them outside to play, but hasn’t learned to collect them yet. Alvin is good with his fostermom’s 11 year-old son and 4 year-old niece so he’s good with children and other dogs, and can be “cat scanned” upon request.

CongRATulations to the Knapp family!
Howdy from Texas! My name is Baxter, aren’t I a handsome guy? I got lost and was a stray when the shelter people found me. My left elbow had been broken recently and not set properly, so it is a little cattywampus, but I get along just fine! Doc says in time I’ll be all healed though I may have a limp. But, let me tell you, it sure doesn’t hold me down right now. I’m a blue merle which makes me very unique. I’m close to a year old, long-legged, and a svelte 10 lbs but expect to be more when I am fully grown and well. I’m very clever and learned to use the doggy door all on my own. I also figured out a way to use a stool to get up to mom’s bed where I spend the night curled up next to her. It gets a little cozy with us three dogs and mom, too. I’m not much on crates….they have those at the shelter and I was very glad to be rescued from them. I can play by myself or with my housemates. I mind pretty well and come when called — especially if it is breakfast or dinnertime. I think it’s great fun to watch the squirrels in the backyard and bark at them or maybe just talk a little. I have quite the vocabulary. I would really love to have a home and family of my own. I love the little girls next door, ages 7 and 9. Hi! My name is Kahlua, but my foster family calls me Kallie for short. I got lost and ended up at a shelter in SW Florida. No one came looking for me, so I became a Rat Terrier ResQ dog. I am about 2 years old and weigh about 9 lbs. My foster mom says I need to gain a couple of pounds. I am crate trained and love to play with toys and other dogs. I can be bossy with my foster brothers sometimes. I really like to play with tug toys, but if no one is available to tug with me, I will play with a toy all by myself, tossing it in the air and chasing it. I haven’t met any cats yet, but my foster mom can arrange to have me “cat” scanned. I love everyone including kids and really love to snuggle. I will sleep in my own bed or crate, but would really prefer to sleep with you. I promise not to snore. Here are some more pictures of me. Click Here

Holly was so terrified in the shelter that the staff thought she was unadoptable. But one of our ResQ foster parents looked into those pleading brown eyes and made room for her, just in the nick of time. She made a long journey from Arkansas to her foster home in North Carolina in the middle of an ice storm. Holly is grateful for a second chance! She weighs 11 pounds and is 12 inches tall. She is two years old and has a docked tail. She is not terrified any longer, she is playful and very loving to her foster family. Holly is cautious of strangers, but when she realizes that she is safe in your lap, she will camp out for hours! Holly plays very well with the 7 and 9 year-old human children in her foster home, but is afraid of the fast movements of the five year-old son, so an adoptive home with older children would be best. She is house trained and sleeps through the night in her crate, just like a good girl! Holly loves to ride in the car, and her fur-ever home would be one with lots of attention, play, and lots of lap time! At 11 pounds, she is the perfect size for a lap buddy!
