ADOPTED!! Billy Ray
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Heller family!
Named for his mullet-like hairdo, Billy Ray is just as much a lover boy as his namesake. He’s very affectionate: gives lots of gentle kisses. He loves curling up on a lap. He really enjoys long walks, exploring the yard and squirrel-watching. Billy is an EXCELLENT jumper. He can jump up to 3 feet in the air from standing still. He’s about 2 years old and 15 lbs. He has blended into his foster family of dogs: two mixed-breed rescues of about 55 lbs. each and a cranky senior Rat Terrier. He isn’t very playful with them, but gets along and falls in line with their routines without any challenges. He does usually end up snuggling alongside one of them when everyone naps. Billy is a little shy with strangers but friendly and quickly warms up to licking and loving. He’ll bark at passersby but not aggressively. He’s very shy with kids but not aggressive, just tentative. He shows mild interest in neighborhood cats, but just watches quietly. He is very smart and picks up on things quickly. He chews only on toys, mostly the sterile bones, Kongs and squeaky toys. He just likes to squeak and chew a little so he’s not destructive. Don’t break Billy Ray’s heart – take him home and love him! Make sure you see more pictures of this love!

ADOPTED! Maynard
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Coker family!
Howdy! Maynard is a Texas boy who is one year old (his birthdate is 4/28/09) and weighs about 13 pounds. He has Texas-sized ears, as you can see (!) and is probably a Teddy Roosevelt Terrier (which used to be called a Type B Rat Terrier). He has a full tail that wags constantly, and those short little legs certainly don’t keep him from running and playing all day! Maynard is very affectionate and loves to snuggle, and is a doggie-door champ at his foster home. He doesn’t even mind going outside to tend to his biz in rain, as long as it’s not a bad thunderstorm. This young dog has a lot of energy and spunk, and is certainly no couch potato. The perfect home for Maynard would have a fenced backyard and some older kids to play ball with! He might be a little rambunctious for toddlers. His foster mom says he is very smart and very trainable, and willing to please. If you’re looking for an active dog to have fun with the family, Maynard may be the one! Oh, and check out more pictures of this cutie!
In Memory: Louie
We’re very sad to report that Louie has left us. His loving foster mom helped him to the very end. Please remember to give your dogs their monthly Heartworm pills!
Louie came to Rat Terrier ResQ as a stray, found by a good Samaritan who knew a handsome Rat Terrier when she saw one. He blended into her home of a husband, 5 year old daughter, and cat very easily. Unfortunately, the family could not keep him. He is 3 years old, and is very sweet, loving and handsome. Louie, a Teddy Rat, says that his favorite place to be is in his person’s lap. He came into ResQ with heartworms and has just finished his treatments. The vet says he is doing well but still needs to stay quiet for a while. Otherwise he is healthy and ready for a new family. Because of his recent heartworm treatment, Louie should go to a quiet home without a lot of hustle and bustle. Louie is a quiet dog that does well alone or with other dogs. He is okay with cats but has been known to chase them.
ADOPTED! Molly
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Maldonado family!
Meet Molly, a silky-smooth 1.5 year old, 13 lb. sweetie! Molly loves to cuddle and be pet while on your lap, purrs when you pick her up and is happiest when she can be curled up next to you. Molly plays well with the 3 Rat Terrier buddies in her foster home. She is making great strides with her house training skills and is adapting to her leash. She has spent too much time in a crate in her past but is thriving now with her new freedom in her foster household and loves snuggling in bed. Molly will come when she is called by name and likes riding in the car. This affectionate girl can’t wait to meet her forever family. Won’t you please give her the love and TLC she wants and deserves? You must see more pictures of this adorable girl!
ADOPTED! Nooglebug
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Wilhelm family!
An Arkansas-wide plea was posted to try to save this darling little girl in the Cabot shelter. She had a broken leg. A trip to the Cabot vet produced a very poor diagnosis, and the vet’s advice was to amputate the leg because the two bones wouldn’t line up. She has a complete break of both bones in her front leg, close to the paw where the bones are tiny. ResQ wasn’t ready to give up on her leg, so we had one of our vets look at her. He recommended splinting the leg and hoping for the best. But as evidenced from her x-ray, it wasn’t lined up well at all. We opted to send Noogie (also called “Bug,”) to our orthopedic specialist in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She underwent expensive surgery to plate the bones on February 12th. This little girl, about 5 years old, has always had a smile on her face and a wag in her tail. She loves everyone she meets, and the feeling is mutual. This is a very special little girl who deserves a chance at being whole again. Please see more photos of Noogie!
ADOPTED! Quinoa
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Nestor family!
Quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wa) is a darling little girl who deserves a chance to be your new best friend! At just 7 months old, she was scheduled to be euthanized at a shelter in Louisiana. Just before her fate was sealed, she was saved! And what a great save she is! She’s loving and friendly, cuddly and happy. We’re getting to know her, and working on her house training. She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home, and has ignored the cats. She has not been around kids, but would probably be great with them. We’re working on crate training and not jumping up. This girl is going to be a great addition to whatever family is lucky enough to adopt her! Please see more pictures of this darling. Quinoa’s adoption fee is $150.
ADOPTED! Joy
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Glynn family!
Joy’s mom, Lady, is a Rat Terrier but dad, not so much. We think Joy’s a Rat Terrier/Blue Heeler mix. We also just think she’s cute and cuddly. She was born on December 7, 2009. Joy is a follower but loves to instigate Rat runs and tug-of-war challenges. She loves running around the yard, and enjoyed playing and plowing through the snow when she was in Texas. She is doing well with potty training. Joy is a champion snuggler and loves to give kisses. You must see more pics of this girl!
ADOPTED! Haydn
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Cabal family!
Haydn’s story is a sad one. She was severely burned by her former owner and sustained third-degree burns over 30% of her back and side. Unfortunately, she received minimal medical care until recently, when she made it to ResQ. Currently, Haydn is on antibiotics, pain medication and Silvadene burn cream. She has also started cold laser therapy to heal the last open wound. Haydn, only about 2 years old, will need significant medical care for a while, including a possible wound revision surgery to help with the tightness the scars have caused since she has difficulty bending one of her rear legs. She may also need hydrotherapy to help with the strength in that leg. She is leery of new things, but we can see a very playful girl (at least, as playful as she can get with a cone on her head!) and believe that she has an incredible and joyful spirit inside her. Haydn is not yet available for adoption, but we’ll keep you posted here! Please see more pictures of Haydn, but be forewarned, they are a teensy bit graphic.
ADOPTED! Zuki
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Bacon family!
Zuki is approximately 4 years old and weighs 15 pounds. She is a gorgeous blue color. This little mom was rescued as a stray in Florida and has come north to find her forever home. She is a very friendly little girl who just loves being with you. When you enter the house, she greets you with a full body wiggle. She is crate trained and house trained. She sleeps in her crate without making a peep, but would also enjoy cuddling with you at night. She loves her stuffed toys, shaking them and throwing them around which is so much fun to watch. She enjoys going on walks and meeting new people. You will melt when she looks at you with her big brown eyes. Zuki has endured a difficult past and is now a healthy girl who deserves a great home for the rest of her life. Could it be yours? Take a look at more pictures of our gal, Zuki! Her adoption fee is $150.
ADOPTED! Rudy
Adopted!
CongRATulations to the Wilcox family!
Isn’t Rudy the cutest? He is a 12 week old Rat Terrier mix (born December 7, 2009). We say mix because we know his mom was a Rat Terrier but we can only guess that daddy was an ACD/Blue Heeler. Rudy is about 11lbs with the most gorgeous green eyes you’ll ever see. Rudy is a smart pup! He has learned to sit and learning his house training manners quickly. As long as he is kept on a schedule and taken out often he does well. He knows what he has to do when we go outside. He is crate trained and will mostly sleep through the night. Every once in a while he will need to go outside to do his business. Just like most puppies, Rudy is playful and curious; unlike most puppies, he listens well. Rudy would be fine with cats and kids and other dogs. You have to see more pictures of this breathtaking boy!

Max is a sweet little boy. He is about 3 years old and weighs about 20 lbs. Max is fully housebroken and crate-trained. He and his brother,... [
