Dogs who are Male
Sniper
Sex: Male • Located in: Arkansas • Age: Young
*Sniper is being fostered in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.*
This handsome boy is Sniper, and he was given the name by our Facebook family. This little guy is only about a year old, and already has had a rough life. Someone thought the little black and white pup would make good target practice, so as a result he has several pellets and pieces of metal throughout his body from being shot. The x-ray in his photo album shows the proof of his prior abuse. A bullet was surgically removed from his shoulder, and he has a bit of muscle loss at the surgical spot, but otherwise this long-legged boy is active and happy to chase the squirrels in his foster home’s back yard. He is completely housebroken with a doggie door and walks well with a leash and harness. He is extremely affectionate and sweet, and is submissive to all the other dogs in his foster home, some weigh half his 18 pounds. He loves to be in your lap, and is a big fan of giving doggie kisses. He is just a bit shy when meeting new people, but once he feels safe, he wants all the petting you can spare. Sniper hasn’t been tested with children, but we feel confident he would do well, especially with children over 5 who are gentle and kind to him. But his sad story doesn’t end with being shot. He is also heart worm positive - a very light positive - and has begun treatment. He should be healthy and ready for his new home some time in September, once he has a clean bill of health from our vets. Upon request, we would be happy to test him with cats. A home with a fenced backyard will be given precedence, per his foster parents. If you have any questions about him, and think you would like to give this deserving little guy a new home, please let us know - or better yet, go ahead and fill out an application! Bouncer - ADOPTED!!
Sex: Male • Located in: North Carolina • Age: Young
*Bouncer - ADOPTED!! is being fostered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.*
ADOPTED!! Bouncer is true to his name! This little 6 pound fella bounces everywhere. He is estimated to be 10-12 months old. We think he may be part chihuahua. He is full of puppy love and enjoys constant interaction with humans and other dogs in the house. Bouncer is a sweet little boy that does not want to be left home alone all day. After a good round of tug-o-war and squeaky toy play he is ready for cuddle time in his foster families lap. He is doing great with house training and sleeps in the bed with his foster parents. Bouncer is learning a few commands and to walk on a leash. Bouncer is looking for a loving home with a family that can give him attention throughout the day and snuggle up at night. He’s a special little boy that will melt your heart! For adorable photos of this bouncing baby boy, check his photo album:

Buster - ADOPTED!!
Sex: Male • Located in: New York • Age: Young
*Buster - ADOPTED!! is being fostered in Mastic Beach, NY.*

ADOPTED!! Buster may only weigh 9 pounds, but he is full of personality and attitude! This little guy is only 10 to 12 months old, and weighed 5 pounds when he and his brother were picked up as strays. He was skin and bones and had a few absessed wounds from larger dogs. His ears had fly bites, so we assume they were “yard dogs.” But Buster is fat and healthy now, and loves being inside with his foster mom. He badly needs socialization, because he is afraid of strangers. We are working on that. Buster is being fostered in Mastic Beach, NY, and his brother has already been adopted. Buster learned the doggie door, and is doing wonderfully with his house training. He loves to sleep in the big bed with his foster mom, but has also been crate trained. Buster is, however, serious about guarding his treats and chewies, so we do not think a home with small children would be appropriate for him. He doesn’t know he’s tiny! We suspect he may be part chihuahua, because of his tiny size, but his “attitude” is all rat terrier! He loves being held by his foster mom, and looks forward to meal time! Rocket - ADOPTED!!
Sex: Male • Located in: Arkansas • Age: Young
*Rocket - ADOPTED!! is being fostered in Arkadelphia, AR.*
ADOPTED!! Meet the Rocket Man! Rocket came into ResQ from a shelter in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, along with two other rat terriers. We think he is about 2 years old, and weighs 14 or 15 pounds, the perfect lap size! Rocket is crate trained, and housebroken with a doggie door. Someone took some time with him, because he knows how to use a doggy door, and is excellent with multiple dogs, both large and small. He is friendly to strangers, and walks like a pro on a leash. Rocket knows “sit” and other basic commands. He will even spin in circles upon command, especially for a yummy treat! Rocket was very well socialized, so it’s hard to understand why he ended up homeless at a kill shelter. Rocket loves to be held, and will come happily when you call him, wagging his tail off. His foster family reports they have found no issues or red flags with this happy boy, and he is ready to find his permanent home. We think he would be fine with children, but we have not tested him with kids. Also, his willingness to coexist with a cat is unknown at this time. This little guy is sure to make some family very happy! For more photos of Rocket in his foster home, click on his album:

Tom Tom
Sex: Male • Located in: Texas • Age: Young
*Tom Tom is being fostered in Austin, TX.*
Let us introduce you to…. TomToml! (aka Tommy) Approximately, 1 1/2 yrs old, 15 lbs and 14” tall at the shoulder. TomTom has a full tail and button ears. He is a sweet, loving, smart and handsome young man who loves to play with his foster siblings and chew on bones. TomTom transitioned into his foster family very easily and is “getting schooled” in the ways of dog etiquette by his older foster siblings. He takes the corrections well and shows the proper respect. His favorite place to be is next to his human companion, his favorite position to sleep is on his back. TomTom was picked up as a stray in Austin, Texas. The wonderful folks at the Austin Animal Center noticed he had a limp and investigated. X-rays revealed that his right rear hip was in an abnormal position. They feel he was probably hit by a car and did not get the proper attention. The animal center made sure TomTom had surgery to help alleviate the pain and physical therapy to get him back on all fours. Now that TomTom is in a foster home, he continues to go to physical therapy twice a week and works with his foster mom daily to get the strength back in that leg. TomTom’s physical therapist is pleased with his progress but warns that he will probably always have a bit of a limp. TomTom does not let that slow him down at all! He loves to tear around the back yard either chasing or being chased by “Archie” his Yorkie foster brother. Tommy and Archie play tug and fetch together, eat out of the same bowl, and fuss at each other like true brothers. TomTom is crate trained, house trained and does well in a car. We are working on walking nicely on a leash without pulling. He takes treats very gently and will run and get in his crate at the sound of the treat bag. After a long hard day of play, he settles down and sleeps quietly in his crate all night. TomTom is full of young terrier energy and would love an active family to play and snuggle with. TomTom is UTD on all shots, neutered and on heartworm prevention. Apply to adopt him today and he’ll pack up his toys to come home. Check back for more updates on his progress and album additions here:
